Amare Stoudemire to return by Christmas?

Post#1 » by LJ4pointplay » Fri Nov 30, 2012 2:03 pm

For what its worth... it is Berman:

Amar’e Stoudemire’s goal is to return around Christmas, with mid-December no longer a legitimate possibility, according to person familiar with the Knicks power forward’s thinking. The person said Stoudemire hasn’t begun running on the court following his surgery on Nov. 1.

The Knicks’ timetable of six-to-eight weeks from the left-knee-debridement surgery hasn’t changed. Under that time frame, the earliest he could be back is mid-December. The Knicks play the Lakers on Christmas Day.

Hasn't even started running on the court yet? In that case, I hope he takes until well past Christmas to get back.

That's one third of a regular season.

Take as long as you need Amar'e. No point of rushing it anymore, if he gets hurt again that might be the end of his career in NY.

I jus looked at the December schedule. And we dont have any back to backs until after Christmas. All games are every other day.

From December 9 - 23 all the games are home (yes including the game in Brooklyn). So thats an extensive amount of practice and home shoot around time for Woody to really watch him and acclimate him to what they're doing. So the Lakers game seems like a good target.

But I would hold him for that game. The Lakers got a bigt front line. I would play him againt Phoenix the next night.

Its very appropriate. Less talented team. Small front line. He started his career there. Maybe gets him going. Rise like Phoenix from the ashes.

Yes Dec. 26th it is.

Amare is amazing at rehabbing his body. might be the best in the league

good thing too as he's had more than his share of injury

I doubt very much he will rush back and I also doubt that if he comes back on X-mas that he will be anything less than 100% ready and focused

and I love the puns!!

I don't want any of the injured Knicks to rush back... let them heal and be fully ready when they do come back. The Knicks are getting by during the regular season without them. Rather have them fully healthy and playing for the back half of the season and the playoffs.

http://espn.go.com/new-york/nba/story/_/id/8694183/amare-stoudemire-new-york-knicks-targets-christmas-return

"During Friday morning's shootaround at the Knicks' training facility, Stoudemire did some running and shooting drills and did lateral drills with resistance bands to build strength in his legs. It was the first time the media had seen him working out since his surgical procedure.

"We're going to accept Amar'e back when he's ready to go, and when that is, I don't know. I really don't," Knicks coach Mike Woodson said after shootaround. "That's a great sign he's out running and he's shooting a little bit. We're just going to gauge it as he goes along, and doctors and Amar'e will tell us when he's ready."

@NYPost_Berman: Stoudemire on court for first time before media, taking jump shots, free throws, doing some jogging. "Great sign,'' Woodson said

That is a great sign! He has finally come out of his hideout. Maybe he'll sit on the bench during games to show support.

I remember there was a stretch where Stat went on a 9 games 30+ pts i know what hes capable of. I'm tired of seeing kurt missing wide open shot. There was a play vs the toronto rap i saw where felton had a high screen and roll with tyson and they had to respect felton drive so stat was left wide open for a dunk to the basket and how many players in the nba are going to stand in amare way when he has a running start to the basket. that play is always going to be there when you have melo and novak on the floor that you must respect.
