Amare has bought in since the end of last year when Woody told him to work on his defense. Over the summer his trainer worked on STATs lateral foot speed.

Im telling ya'll Woody has reached Amar'e. Woody is Amares first defensive coach. I mean Novak playing defense out there.

nothing statistical proves that. pau is the better rebounder, by far. he also has 2 rings to his name.

It's funny, how you want statistical proof, and then contradict yourself the next sentence by saying Pau is "by far" the better rebounder, when Gasol averages a whole 0.1 RPG more than Staudemire per 36 minutes. Pau started to average 10+ rebounds at the age of 29.

Over the last handful of years Pau IS by far the better rebounder. His Total Rebounding Rate is very clearly above Amar'e's.

STAT is right around 13.5% and Pau is around 15.5%. That's a legitimate difference.

To drill down a bit more, Pau has the edge in rebounding rate both offensively and defensively.

All anyone needs to know about this trade is that the Lakers are on one side of it.

Clearly you dont become the team on the other side.

Never ever ever trade with the Lakers

They only trade washed up garbage for all-stars

Never ever ever ever trade with the Lakers

Pau for Amare helps Knicks defense. Seven footer with long arms and intelligence would go a long way. Plus if we are looking to win now, lets get the guy with the hardware no? It has been said by Kobe that Pau is best used as the #2 option. In NY he would be just that so we would see him much closer to his prime than the Lakers have.

It's also been said by Kobe that Pau has no balls.

are you serious with this? you know he says this to get his guys going, right?

was this before or after gasol was the main reason they won 2 rings?

i know you guys like the 18-5 start (and i do too), but the 18-5 start has NOTHING to do with amare. in fact, we've gotten off to such a good start because he hasn't played.

1. It was actually an attempt at humor on my part.

2. As far as when? He said it recently and he's said it (implied it) before.

3. As far as just for motivation? One of the biggest knocks against Gasol when he was with the Grizzlies was that if you hit hit hearly and play him physical that he'll take himself out of the game mentally. The Knicks were successful at doing that on multiple occassions and it was clear that he did not like physical play at all. So, no, it wasn't just for motivation, my take is that it was based on reality (Bryant isn't one to mince words or be concerned about reprecussions of him expressing his opinions).

4. As far as us getting off to a good start because he hasn't played? How do you know that? Up until Woodson took over you thought the Knicks were crap and would always be crap with Anthony and were you right?

5. You bitch about Stoudemire's health and question his desire and yet don't seem to have a problem with Gasol's health and his questionnable toughess. Reality is that Gasol has been playing professionally since he was 16 years old. That's 16 years worth of wear and tear on a 7 foot frame. So if you are going to condemn Stoudemire for being done for physically (which you've implied on multiple occassions), then why the benefit of the doubt for the other guy?

6. Stoudemire wasn't the only guy that had a bad season last season nor the only guy that flubbed in the playoffs. Gasol also had a bad year and was terrible in the playoffs. So if recent play is proof one guys is crap then it should be the same for the other guy (who is older and has more mileage). Gasol has not looked great for the same amount of time Stoudemire hasn't looked great.

Yes, he became a good rebounder at the age of 29. Amar'e is 30 now and no one knows how many rebounds he'll get the next couple of years.

Side note: Their TRB% is nearly identical, with Gasol having a 0.2% edge on Amar'e for their carriers.

I love Pau and would love to see him leave the Lakers because he is unfairly scapegoated when he is the reason they won two championships and is also the best offensive post player in the world right now.

But for those saying Amar'e for Pau think about the impact it has on the Knicks. How do you play him with Chandler? Amar'e can play 4/5 Pau is really only a 5 right now. And he deserves the block so where would Chandler play? Without a training camp how do you install the double post offence necessary to have Pau and Chandler play together? And if you're going to make Pau come off the bench then why not have the more dynamic/pick and roll bred player.

That's not a smart approach. You trade with any team that has something to offer you. That said, I would not trade for Gasol, but wouldn't be surprised if they Lakers would swing a Pau for Love trade.

Wait what!

So you are telling me Pau Gasol a guy who never had knee surgery or any major injuries is damaged goods, yet Amare Stoudemire has had mutiple knee surgeries, back problems,he even injured his hand is not damaged goods.

Please explain how knee tendinitis is considered damged goods?
