This deserves its own thread because this is not the result of just one game. Its been 3 games that have played out the exact same way. A soft showing by the Knicks.
Now I didnt see much complaining to the refs which was good. But this team loses these type of games.
Grizz and Bulls were blowouts. This game was close throughout but we should have won this game and we continue to make bone headed plays at the end (Melo and JR chucking threes) and not running the offense.
I know we're still unhealthy, I know STAT is still working his way in. I know our starting backcourt is out and we lost a close game. But there is a theme here and I dont like it.
This team looks like champs when everything clicks. But its a facade. Im looking of how the look when we beat a reall good defensive team and coming out on top in a close game.
We blew out MIAMI twice, blew out the Spurs. Ok fine. The only real game where we won a tough close game was the 1st Spurs contest. That was ages ago. As of late (3-4 at msg in last 7 games) we playing soft, our defense is not the killer its should be. Its not physical. Amare only 2 rebounds (he actually gets close to the ball and let his smaller teammates get it SMDH). Allowing big leads early in the game in disgraceful.
I cant say its only player. Collectively we soften up and dont play with savvy, which is what I expect with an older team. But the past 3-4 weeks have been a dissapointment. Our record is good but we dont have enough signature team defining wins. Blowouts dont count because its not adversity during a game.
We got two games against Indiana and Chicago. I expect two close games. If this team is serious about winning a ring. They win these next two games. No excuses.

This team has been pretty soft against tough defenses (Chicago, Memphis, and Boston) but I think we fair much better against those teams once Shump, Felton, and Wallace return because those three are as gritty as you can get.
*miss those guys*

The Trolls are in full effect tonight.
Mike Woodson is now 2-12 as a head coach in 2nd round playoff games.

Bizarre post. Knicks are without their PG and a recovering Stat.. we won't see this teams real strength until later in the season. They've had plenty of defining wins. Nor do the next two games have any relation to winning a ring.
And i'm confused how one can watch a game like this and think "soft" .. Knicks have shown countless times they are a physical team and not soft.
If you want to talk about losing composure fine.. but all these random tangents are bizarre.

dudes are just frustrated tonight. Wishing death on Pierce, questioning Mike Woodson's gleaming dome, asking for Melo to be traded for Danny Granger and picks, etc....losing to Boston on a Pierce dagger will do that to niqqas.

I think this is fair. Knicks came back against the Spurs in SA and that was a real physical game. They also beat down Miami twice. So they've shown that they are capable of showing toughness.
My main concern is how they're going to react the next time a team comes at them the way Boston did tonight. Which is why Friday's matchup against Chicago is going to be real intriguing.

he is right that some of the players on this team is emotionally soft Carmelo being the main culprit. I have seen a few losses where he lost his cool and starts trying to play hero ball. Grizzlies game, Dallas game, Bulls game at the garden, the blazer's game, the first brooklyn game and this game tonite. The problem is he would do the same thing if this was the playofffs because I have seen a trend. It is easy to frustrate him and that's not good. Tyson Chandler gets frustrated fairly easily as well and to a lesser extent JR and Felton. Woodson likes to ride JR really hard in terms of playing better, but what doesn't appear to happen is how he gives Melo a pass for the way how he acts. I have seen a few games now where teammates are trying to restrain him and he just tries to push them out the way.
That's not leadership qualities and they need to address it, because this won't be the last time teams try to get in his head, because they realize it can be somewhat successful. Melo starts trying to play hero ball when this happens. One glaring situation was a pull up three by Melo in a two against three situation with Kidd wide open on the wing for a three. It was so bad even Sullinger was talking trash to Chandler. Remember what the Nets did Boston twice, they punked them twice. We have a mentally soft team and it's something that woody needs to address. Now it's being reported that Melo had be restrained from going into the celtics locker room. Look there were no punches thrown, just some physical play and some elbows and you want to fight someone because of that?

This team is far from soft. They are too emotional.

Agreed... we need to get MWP on this team. He is the perfect compliment to Melo at the other forward position.

Im not trolling. I think the Knicks are a very good team. But we are losing games at a much faster rate than before. We started out the season 18-6. We are 5-5 in our last ten. We allow another 100pts tonight. Another high % shooting by the opponent.
If we would have beaten Chicago and the Blazers this game would not bother me. But the cumulative results if those 3 games and loses to teams right behind us is not good.
Our record looks good thanks to our great start but our current play is bad. How can anyone not be alarmed by this.
Knicks are good team. But their soft to date. Feel free to convince me otherwise. All Im getting is the typical STFU GTFO, stop posting stuff.
