Why can't this forum have a decent discussion on anything? It's always either one extreme or the other. Novak clearly has his advantages, but teams have been targeting him on defense lately. This is something that needs to be addressed and has nothing to do with "PMS" or "Isiah" or "winning every game".

A lot of typical Knick fan reactions, definitely.

I guess it was a bit presumptuous of me to think there'd be any discussion of what was in the OP, as opposed to the title itself. I realise that I made the mistake of not reading what I'd written, and didn't clarify that Smith's potential re-signing wasn't an issue, as I'd meant to.

Novak's contract won't effect the Knicks' capability of re-signing JR. That was a f*ck up on my behalf because of not proof reading the OP.

What I'd meant to say (as I posted on another forum but accidentally posted the unedited copy here) was that the imbalance of Novak's game is worth seeing what we can get for him in a POTENTIAL trade, and how that may benefit both the team's cap concerns and the roster itself. JR Smith's potential pay day in mind, it may be worth seeing if we can address our concerns on the glass at the cost of Novak. Emphasis on the word MAY there.

You fan are ridiculous. Hes the best in the league at what he does. 4mil to secure the best 3pt specialist in the league is fine. Knicks just need to use him more. The ball movement has been lacking.

There's lot of people who can shoot wide open like that.

In my opinion, being a professional basketball should require a lot more than shooting unguarded threes.

It bothers me how some of you are so satisfied with the little that Novak offers.

I mean people understand his role. 4 mill is money well spent for a player who the defense CANNOT leave. He's not going to be consistently scoring because teams game plan for him but ill tell you what. His man is going to think long and hard before leaving him for a double team. Bball is a chess game and Novak is an important piece.

 I dunno if you trade him ..when we get everyone healthy (especially players that can break down the D like Melo Felton Stat Shump) he can still be key piece to the offense ..but I do admit you can't play him as long as woodson is especially in a game like this where the team was struggling in the 4th against a good defensive team he's useless, a good 15 min would do , they are playing 4 on 5 he's not gonna get open, he's not gonna draw fouls, he's not gonna get you any offensive rebounds by standng in the corner, I would have like to see Copeland in there ,I know he had a average game but atleast he go to the line & had a couple basket around the rim , won't get that from Novak..Or the smaller line up instead of having JR dribble the clock out

I would do Novak for Jordan Hill :)

We could use a young defensive big.

Him being cut by Popovich is the reason he was available for the Knicks to claim off waivers.

Still shooting 44% from 3 on the season, 4th best, and the knicks knew Novak couldn’t play D when they signed him… Meaning they’re paying him to make 3’s and that’s what he’s doing..

Who do you want to trade him for?

Novak shouldn't be playing the amount of minutes he does, his production can be just the same in 16.

4 minutes a quarter...3 threes a quarter....just that simple.

Ok so we agree he's a liability on defense. But if he's only scoring 3 points in 24 minutes and cant create his own shot he's a liability on offense too.

That's 12 shots a game for Novak.

So that means you trade him? Because he scored 3 points in 24 minutes? The Knicks shoot a lot of threes, you’re going to trade the 4th best 3 point shooter in the league and get? As we both agree dood is a one trick pony how much value is in that...

For the record though even if he is not getting shots up he spreads the floor. No coach will ever leave him open so whomever is guarding Steve has to stay attached forcing the D to essentially play 4 on 4. You also want shooters around Melo so teams have a harder time doubling him, similar to Lebron..

Maybe because I'm not a real GM.

Then why stop at Rudy Gay? Why not Lebron, or prime Jordan? Why not Zoidberg?

Oh yeah, Memphis would be all over that.
