Haven't heard about him distancing himself or anything like that, only saw him being taken away by the police. His life is probably going to be awful, the brother of a mass murderer.
Obviously we don't know the ins and outs but that family seemed a mess to me. The dad seems to have went and led a new life with his new wife and left the mother to bring up the crazy, evil son. Still i agree with one of the parents of one of the little children who lost her life, the mother deserves a lot of blame. No way should they have been guns in that household with that type of child in there.

A lot of law enforcement personnel getting whacked these days. Apparently having a lot of guns at your disposal doesn't really help either. The DA and his wife at their house in Texas (of all places) and now the Sheriff on the courthouse steps.
