WTF? Can someone sum all this up?

Te'o made up a story about his girlfriend dying?

It sounds to me like he was having a relationship with a girl "online" that he had never met.... And didn't want that part getting out.... And maybe tried to kill it off by saying she died... or was had by her faking her death..... And now it's unraveling when you look back at quote of him saying "he met her here" "they were very close" etc. and the coverup is becoming clear.

Te'o definitely knew about it. No way he was that stupid to not figure it out after a year, and if he was actually innocent, why all the lies about actually meeting her, etc.?

I think the theory above about Te'o being gay and lovers with the other dude, and them doing it for publicity, is the most plausible one.

That show is actually insane... There must be something going on behind the scenes to convince these people to out themselves on national television. The concept of the show is actually brilliant.

Yeah I don't get why he'd ever make a relationship he was having with someone he has never met such a public thing though...You'd think that's the type of **** someone would keep locked up- not thrust it into public eye... At least until you have met the damn person... So that makes little sense, even if he wasn't in on it himself... As well as the lying about meeting her from the articles and whatnot... Which I suppose could have just been lies to cover what he thought was a real relationship- but again, makes little sense.

You have to think that somewhere along the line he found out he was had, and didn't want it to all blow up so he went along with it and never came out with the truth.... Just see no reason for him make it all up like this.

te'o is apparently a mormon. but he also has a tattoo which mormonism discourages against, i guess anything is possible. he has no problem faking a story involving a dead girl he should have no shame with faking a religion.

let's see, depends on which side of the story you want to believe

deadspin:

- te'o never had a girlfriend, let alone one involved in a car crash and that later died of leukemia
- te'o and his friend stole images of a girl on the internet and claimed her to be his deceased gf
- the girl who's pics were used as te'o's deceased gf is contacted and says she's never met te'o before
- espn has known about this story for roughly 10 days

te'o & notre dame:

- te'o conversed with a girl over the internet whom he thought died, but turns out he was trolled

basically deadspin has everything that proves te'o knew what was up, but it's a pretty long read.

:o :o :o

Dang. You beat me too it. This guy is a sociopath.

I can't believe the stupid do-nothing mainstream media didn't seek an interview with her family/friends or do something to investigate it. Ad Te'o is a fool for thinking that the truth wouldn't come out.

I wonder how much Notre Dame paid ESPN to keep quiet.

I haven't had imaginary girlfriends since I was a nerdy Dungeons & Dragons playing 12 year old. And even then she didn't die in a car accident or suffer from terminal deseases. Will be interesting to see what this does to his draft status. He stands to lose millions. I mean this is worse than actually marrying a hottie then having her take millions from you in a divorce since at least then you'd have gotten some action as a result.

Ha, he needs an Oprah interview ASAP to come clean.

yea he needs that interview

Why would they need to pay anything? ESPN has no journalistic integrity to maintain. They profited from this story just as much as ND and Te'o.
