Bill Simmons ‏@BillSimmons

I love when coaches decide that their gimmick "system" is more important than figuring out to put their best players in the best situation.

Couldn't have tweeted this 4 years ago, you bastard.

The Grizzlies have agreed to trade Marreese Speights, Josh Selby, Wayne Ellington and a future draft pick to the Cavs for Jon Leuer, according to various reports.

J.J. Barea was fined $5,000 on Monday for his second violation of the anti-flopping policy.

Memphis lives another day to escape luxury tax. I read on GB that the pick is a top 5 protected 1st round pick in 2015. If true, it is crazy. Phoenix type of move. One would think it should be less costly to move a useful guy in Speights who only makes 4 million.

That is a good deal for the Cavs, and I understand why the Grizz do it.

The Grizz saved over 8 mil on this an in turn save that massive repeater tax.

They actually dont have to make the big deals now.

Yep.

It has been 15 or 16 years since a team in the Western Conference made the playoffs with a .500 record. I couldn't tell you the last time one made it under .500. If the Lakers make it into the playoffs, then there is finally hope that the Western Conference is on the decline. I just don't see the Lakers going 24 and 17 or better to close out the season. Now if you are counting on all the teams ahead of them imploding, then it is possible.

I'll gladly eat crow at the end if they dont....but 40 games remain.

The Grizzlies will reportedly sign free agents Delonte West, Bill Walker and Sasha Vujacic to free-agent contracts.

howard isnt done he just needs a full season to get his back right

as far as griz, that trade hurts them....selby is a wildcard player of the bench and speights was solid off the bench

i dont think they have depth now to make the move in po

That trade works for both teams

Cavs get a shooter, undersized scorer, and a bigman

Grizz get cap relief, and sign 3 pretty solid FAs

The numbers just don't add up. Do you really think a .400 team is going to go 28-15 the rest of the way? This isn't going to happen.

What do you think is going to happen? How many wins do you think they're going to get? Houston is not dropping under .500.
