Not by a whole lot but KG gives you a lot of possibilities on offense that Tyson simply doesn't. Rebounding is the only area where Tyson clearly beats KG...other than that KG is really better at every aspect of the game.

KG is averaging a whopping 2 points higher while Tyson is averaging 4.5 offensive rebounds a game.

Chandler's offensive impact > Garnett's

People will always underrate Chandler's game on the offensive end but he's arguably the best rolling big in the league and gives us crucial extra possessions. His tap outs have literally lead to game winning shots!

The elimination of the center position hurt Tyson. KG is still the better player.

West has Paul, Kobe, Durant, Dwight, Blake.

I don't usually do that "fixed" bs, but...fixed.

No one but Anthony deserves it on the Knicks.

Garnett gives you very similar defense/help defense/shotblocking+ he can stretch out the defense, opening up the floor for others. He can also post up and command double teams....Tyson might be better at finishing around the rim now but Kg's positives outweigh Tyson's overall. Like I said, the gap isn't huge by any means but I believe Garnett is still ahead of Tyson, which isn't bad since both players are huge for their teams.

before I begin to criticize this statement would you care to back up that ridiculous statement with some facts? or statistics? instead of making a subjective comment like that

Record - Knicks much better than the celtics (edge tyson)
Scoring - KG is averaging 2 pts more than tyson while taking 5 more shots a game (tyson is shooting 67% while KG is shooting 51%)
Rebounding - Tyson killing KG (11 rebounds a game to 7 rebounds per game)
Defense - Tyson averging more blocks per game

Point out one area which KG is outplaying Tyson this year?

I don't mind a debate about a knicks player not being worthy of something but please have some relavent stats to back up your claim.

Tyson has had his clunkers this year but he is still the best center in the east. KG has had many more clunkers than TC this year.

Its a fan vote. It is what it is. Our fans need to come out a bit harder next time...

fair pont, im not arguing whether or not Chandler deserved it over KG...it is a fan vote after all.

I'm arguing the ridiculous claim that KG is a better player than Tyson at this point in there careers.

I misspoke. KG is the better player for his career. And his offensive skill set is better than Tyson. But Tyson has outplayed KG by far this year. And the Knicks are winning.

If the coaches voted KG wouldnt start. Im arguing for Tyson. Its s crime he is not starting.

Starting lineup of Heat/Celtics/Knick. This should be interesting.

I love these kinds of results, because it makes me feel like I'm that much smarter than the average fan...KG over Tyson...WTF...Lin almost starting (I like Lin, but NO CHANCE in hell)!?

The fact that I f*cking HAAAATTTTEEEE Wade, LeBron, Rondo and KG makes me kind of impressed with the NBA. I'm not sure it's an old-school 90s rivalry. More like a new-school contempt for jackass "superstars."

how so?

besides a few games this year where he didn't show up tyson is still the reining defensive player of the year and does much more

who blocks more shots - tyson
who gets more rebounds - tyson
who is he better post defender - tyson

garnett is probably the better help defender but that about it.

Look at the team defenses. Garnett anchors the Celtics and Tyson anchors the Knicks. Key difference? KG's Celtics are 7th in Points Allowed and Tyson's Knicks are 12th. The Celtics are more like a top 5 defense but they're last in the league in rebounds.

we have had felton out for a while and shumperts been out all season...that has greatly effected our perimeter defense. Tyson is only one man. There is a reason he won DPOY last year. He has to make up for a lot of our ineffeciencies on the defensive end.

the difference between 7th in the league in defense and 12 is so insignificant. The knicks allow 96.5 points a game while the celtics allow 95.7. That is a difference of .8 which means nothing in my book. We are a better defensive team than the celtics when healthy and most would agree with that i would hope.

We also play a much faster pace than the celtics so we score more but only allow .8 points more which is so insignificant.

Not knocking Garnett as a player he is a hall of famer and still a quality player in the league even though he is a huge d-bag. No one in there right mind would ever swap Chandler for KG currently...that would be beyond stupid.

Garnett also has Rondo and now Avery Bradley on the perimeter. The Knick D has been 12th in points allowed DESPITE piss poor perimeter D up to this point (now with Shump back it should improve).

Even if you want to say the C's team D is better bc of KG over Tyson, how about team success? The Knicks are clearly weaker defensively but very clearly superior in overall team success and record...Plus that team defense rating doesn't change Tyson's rebounding, blocking and efficiency advantages to go along with scoring just a couple points less per game (so individual numbers, Tyson is head and shoulders above KG). There simply aren't enough numbers to reasonably place KG above Tyson imo.

A bit ot but Shaq, C-Webb and Barkley think JR should be an all star reserve

edit: and Reggie Miller and Steve Kerr. that'd be sick to have three of our guys at the all star game
