I like the tanking thread better. This one makes me feel like I should be proud to be a Knicks fan when I clearly shouldn't.

I approve!
Mike Woodson is now 1-11 as a head coach in 2nd round playoff games.

After this we play the Warriors. If we're not careful we could easily have a 6 game losing streak.

Im sick and tired of that starting lineup. We will continue to lose games if this cluelesss coach continues to play this starting unit. Jason kidd should hit the bench and move shumpert to a guard position because it makes no sense to play him at SF. Small ball is loser ball.

Me and you both. It's the coach's stubbornness that bothers me the most. I can't wrap my head around it. Oh well. At least they shouldnt be able to exploit our size as much. Let's go Knicks. Time to get a much needed win.

It's pretty obvious the lineup needs to change. If Woodson insists on playing Melo at the 4, he needs to start JR Smith...Kidd just isn't playing the same way he was early in the year. Defensively, he gets owned in single coverage (his help defense is still very good though), and since the Knicks switch a ton, he gets caught on opposing SFs too often.
I also think Shumpert would be 10x more effective sliding back to the 2 spot. It's pretty obvious he's a hell of a lot more comfortable pressing guards and floating around the perimeter.
Felton
Shumpert
Smith
Anthony
Chandler
-------------
Amare
Kidd
Novak
Prigioni
Martin
Is the way to go if Melo keeps starting at the 4...Kidd is getting abused on switches and teams run the ball whenever he's on the court. Not gong to happen with Felton/Shump/JR
Kidd still has a ton of value to this team, but its got to be coming from off the bench.

The Knicks struggles are also amplified because the current group just hasn't blended well...Shumpert at the 3 is uncomfortable and Kidds stroke has gone missing. Defensively, Shump doesn't have as many advantages locking up bigger forwards and Kidd gets the ball run at him 100% of the time and gets abused in mismatches. The result is that in everything the Knicks do on offense and defense, it all looks like a struggle.
My point isn't to put full blame on Kidd, but with the right lineups to start and to mix throughout the game, playing hard like the Knicks did last night, even though they weren't smart at times, should be more than enough to win a game. Woodson needs to recognize this and make the change. The Knicks have a chance here to get their record to 34-20 and right the ship...these next 2 games are critical in preventing a total meltdown.
