I don't think they should do this for guys that only played 1 year. Just my opinion.

He won them a championship and has donated a ton of money to the school, including a brand new facility for athletics. Alumni who do these things usually get buildings and what not named after them, so why is it a problem that Carmelo gets his jersey retired?

Carmelo is the only player in the NBA right now to have

-2 Gold Medals
-1 National Championship
-Make the playoffs every year while averaging 20PPG every year
-6 time All Star
-5 time All-NBA
