Knicks are "hoping against hope" to pull off trade for Rondo

Post#1 » by delvec19 » Sat Feb 8, 2014 4:35 pm

The Knicks are still "hoping against hope" to pull off a trade for Rajon Rondo, according to USA Today's Sam Amick.
New York could package Amare Stoudemire's contract as well as a young talent like Iman Shumpert or Tim Hardaway Jr. They could also take back long-term contracts from Boston, providing the Celts with salary cap relief, but even that seems unlikely to convince GM Danny Ainge to deal his franchise star and the Knicks' lack of draft picks hurts the odds of any such deal. A deal for Rondo may be wishful thinking, but it seems the Knicks will be buyers at the deadline as they look to pacify Carmelo Anthony and make a playoff run.

I'd do it if we make the pick top 5 protected. But when have the Knicks ever protected any pick?

Ughhh more Rondo talk. It's very unlikely Rondo comes here unless he demands a trade. And even then Ainge might ship him off somewhere like the Kings for a better deal.

Also I am at the point where I don't think adding Rondo would fix all the problems on this team and make us contenders. I'd rather wait till 2015 till we can sign Rondo outright, then trade our assets for 1.5 years of Rondo

The article says a trade is unlikely. I don't understand the point of posting this.

if you are going to trade for him now is the time because rondo doesn't look that good. although that's kind of scary too.

Gonna have to be a 3 team deal.

Mills has friends around the league so we'll see what gets done.

Considering Tim Hardaway Jr's value is high and the Knicks could be willing to take back BOTH Gerald Wallace and Jeff Green, I could see something happen. If Knicks trade Tim, better hope he doesn't become Michael Redd for someone else.

who will be easier to bring other major FA to NY with, rondo or melo? both their contracts end at the same time, right?

rondo is younger and is a floor general PG, which i prefer to have for my team. but melo plays on a completely different level than rondo.

if they took JR and felton's contract as well i wouldn't be so angry.

I've been on the THjr bandwagon since summer league, and I would trade him for Rondo. IMO Rondo is the third best PG in the NBA after Curry and CP3. I doubt anything happens though.

what a difference Rondo would make on this squad

defensively alone but just thinking about a player who can penetrate and score or dish and actually control the offense makes me a little too excited

Why would the Celtics accept that?

If Ainge accepts any deal from us, then you know his knees are done.
