OT: All Things Hip Hop thread (bringin' it back)

Post#1 » by j4remi » Thu Feb 13, 2014 2:57 pm

We used to have the All things hip hop thread and had to make multiple threads for it because we have 100s of pages of hip hop links, vids, news and discussions...with the Knicks sucking and a long lay off since the last one, I figure I might as well try to bring it back...

That's especially because Trinidad James recently claimed the South runs NY and the NY DJ's all came out and DEFENDED his comments. They straight up trashed NYC hip hop in December. A couple of weeks later, Soul Tape 3 dropped (and Cuffin' Season is the best banger to drop since the day that mixtape came out) and now Maino just dropped King of Brooklyn which is another great NY mixtape. So yeah...I just wanted to post some NY hip hop because we haven't had a thread on the music in a while.

Finally been waiting for a new hip hop thread can't wait for the new kid cudi, nas, fabulous albums. I just listened to soul tape 3. I was hating on fabolous for awhile because of the Brooklyn net thing but I have to admit the mixtape was better than I expected everything is the same goes hard.

Not a new mixtape... But if you love hip hop... Give this a download and listen. Only listed cuz i doubt many of you heard it. Great beats (pretty sure Alchemist produced the mixtape.)

Evidence from "Dilated Peoples"

The mixtape is fire. Take my word for it. Beats are all tough too.

Soultape is the mixtape of the year imo and Sacrifices is amazing. I mean he brought the old Fab multi-syllable flow back.

Not bad, I think a lot of producers are way too busy on beats and this one stays in the pocket nicely. My one criticism would be that I think the tempo is a bit fast and I think it'd sound better exactly the same just slowed down slightly (easier to flow on too).

A good friend of mine produces beats and does some interesting things...dude's an animal on a lot of different instruments.
