No it doesn't. Yeah you're getting rid of Felton's contract but you're taking on Calderon's, which goes into 2015.

what your forgetting is Calderon can actually play, he is exactly the PG phil wanted.

felton was the worst pg in the NBA

Calderon is one of the worst starting PGs in the NBA. Granted he would make a good backup, but no way would it make sense to dip into 2015 money to have him on the team.

I couldnt agree more. The Knicks are going to suck this year whether we had Felton or Calderon. Everyone is looking at getting rid of Felton as a huge plus simply because it helps us this year. WHO CARES ABOUT THIS YEAR? We have no shot at being good. We don't have a good shooting team. We're not a good passing team. We don't have a good defensive team. We don't rebound well. We're not efficient. We have a very low IQ. Our athleticism is limited. We're coming off 37 wins. We have a rookie coach. No one understands the system.

If Calderon comes in the way of a 2nd max FA or a really skilled player, this trade will look really bad. Calderon is an okay starter. He certainly not a top 15-20 PG. Also, don't you want to surround our future max guys with great defensive players? Calderon is one of the worst defensively. I just don't like the strategy.

The wolves are circling on Phil before the first game of the season.

This should be fun

Seems like a waste of an asset since now the league knows that we don't think highly of Larkin. We could have at least traded him for a pick.

I agree but I still like the trade. I liked it then and I like it now despite of the Larkin thing. I would have preferred they secured Larkin, they could have always traded him later. But what I see here is a lot of people now flipping on a trade they originally liked because of this. Seems lame to me.

Larkin looked pretty decent at least. Not perfect, but he has some skills. I wonder if the Knicks are still thinking this over?

Larkin looked ok last night, until you remember that Brooks ate him alive. I like him as a backup, so thank god we have Calderon.

He has a lot to learn but clearly option should be picked up. $1.7mm for, at worst, a backup pg is good with me.

he should be kept at that price for sure - barely more than a cap hold and he offers something that we don't have on this team

Any chance this was some gamesmanship by PJax and they do pick it up before the deadline?

I wasn't thrilled about having Calderon's 7.5 mill on the cap for this off-season either, but Felton had an opt-in of 4.5 million, which he is obviously taking.

In the end, it is a 3 million difference. After this coming off-season, the cap should rise to the point that Calderon's cap number won't matter if the Knicks decide to pursue someone like Durant.

If the Knicks plan to sign 2 key players this off-season, they will have to either trade JR Smith (before he opts in) or Jose Calderon.

Assuming the deadline hasn't passed, the Knicks will likely pick up Larkin's option because they can easily trade him if needed.

Shane was very good tonight in my opinion. That was some of the best 2 way pg play we've had in years. Obviously he's young and going to have up and down performances but the kid can definitely play and his speed causes all kinds of problems for the opposing pg. I'm excited to watch him progress this year.

Yea they should pick his option up.

Has potential, didnt really force those steals he got tonight, but he was all over the place and was hustling for those loose balls.

His jumper is pretty good, probably inconsistent but you can see he can improve over time.

I swear if we don't pick up this kids option. He is playing better every game and producing well. 9/5/2 with 5 steals in 28 minutes is all you need from a backup PG.

Sh*t we picked up Hardaway's option and the kid only played 5 freaking minutes today

WAKE UP PHIL!!!

Feels like a Phil tactic to see what he does with a chip on his shoulder.

Just like his comments about JR and Cole.

Future back up PG. What we see now is a rookie still learning. Once he learns how to harness his speed and his 40% 3pt stroke comes back, he'll be a key rotation guy on a legit contender. Best of all, he'll be cheap.

Him and THJ should be our bench backcourt for the next decade

He gives us some change of pace speed from the pg position. Helped us get some transition points. I am not sure if I would call him a good defender yet because of his size, but he creates some havoc with his speed on defense. He is really quick on the help and double and was even causing problems for Lebron.

Keep this man for that price!
