Iman Shumpert-I'm Impressed

Post#1 » by RHODEY » Tue Nov 11, 2014 4:20 pm

Over 14 ppg, over %50 FG %57 3 pt shooting ... yeah I'm impressed. Can he keep this up? Do we still want to move this guy?

the problem becomes if he continues to play really well he will price himself out of here. Someone is going to pay for a 24 year old 2-way guard. There aren't that many good 2 guards in this league anymore.

For example the sixers could offer him a big deal and then they could have MCW, Shumpert, Noel, and Embid

along with a top 3 pick.

That could be a really nice young team, and sick defensively.

Phil saved his career, We will re-sign him for what Ariza got in Houston.

Perfect Starting Role player on a Contending Squad.

Don't give Phil all the credit here. Give some to Fisher and give most of it to Shumpert.

Does it surprise anyone that Shump has put in major work?

He's easily the Knicks' second best player behind Melo.

My favorite thing about his game right now is the way he's moving the ball. He's becoming a real playmaker. And greenie said he can't pass. Said he can't handle the ball or shoot the ball either. Shump Shump says "hai".

That team would still be bottom 5, even in 3 years.

Shump's looking like a keeper. He's a nice fit in this system and next to Melo and Calderon. He's the type of player you keep.

Contract year. I'd trade him as soon as December 15th rolls around.

Shumpert putting up decent numbers and the Knicks still losing.

Shump is maturing and taking the game very serious. The biggest thing that stands out to me about shump is his dribbling has really improved. This kid is performing sharp change of direction moves. Crossing over with explosion. And his jump shot is improved. You can see him in the process of putting the dribble moves and jump shot together. At this rate,... shump is moving towards being able to create and shoot off the dribble.

I think its going to help him getting into the paint too. Where he has confidence to not have to pick up his dribble to early on drives and get a step closer to the rim on his finishes.

The biggest improvement i see is how serious he is taking the game. He is becoming a very emotional player. In a good way. He is taking it personal. Thats so very important defensively.

I think shump has hit a point in his life where he realizes to be the man he wants, he is going to have to take his respect by force with his play. This aint a contract thing. Its a young man who has always believed in his ability. He is more comfortable in the NBA now. Not as nervous or thinking as much. Has added to his game and is finding a way to put pressure on the other guys during play.

Im on record for not liking the kid. I got my reasons. None the less he deserves credit. The kid has impressed me this season. Enough that I want to see more. For the first time im a bit on the fence about his future here. Especially in todays NBA. Where shooting guards are actually becoming difficult to find.

Also keep in mind that they have another top 3 pick this year + like 50 mil in cap space lmao.

Hopefully trade JR so we can have some extra capspace for someone like Milsap or Monroe

I personally don't think Shump is better than Tony Wroten.

Not even close in my mind. If we could do that swap.. lawd I would be happy.

Shump and JR have kind of reversed roles this year. Shump is being encouraged and promoted and JR has a quick hook on him. Shump is playing free and JR is playing tentative. Ultimately, I think that's the correct approach to bring the best out of both players. Shump needed positive re-enforcement + constructive criticism, JR needs discipline to refine his tremendous physical abilities.

I do, however, wonder if either player will be here at season's end.
