Tell you this much, Donnie should have gone all in...and offered what the Knicks traded for Melo. A kid like Curry at a decent salary would have allowed the Knicks to draw FAs to compliment. As it stands, the Knicks used FA to anchor their team and that has serious setbacks because now they need vital cogs at premium price.

This place was convinced Don Nelson was sticking it to the knicks. And that Mullin had drafted him to take advantage of walsh in a trade.

This. We would have to have made some sort of trade to get our two max cat slots...and if not then, then he would have been traded for Melo or somebody else. Curry had shown to be a promising player at the time, which means we probably could have acquired Melo or somebody without giving up all the assets we did, such as the draft picks...but that's wishful thinking considering our management. 2010 plan, though...

The Jordan Hill pick was a disaster... they still had the chance to draft Derozan, Jrue Holiday, Ty Lawson and Jeff Teague. Should have traded up for Curry in hindsight. But Derozan, Holiday, Lawson and Teague would have been excellent picks for the Knicks, especially under D'Antoni.

everyone knew the knicks wanted curry, and vice versa

knicks brass shouldve been more quieter about their public want for the guy, shouldve tanked more, and/or traded up to get him.....when he was gone, it was clear the team had no backup plan as they took a bust in Hill....no creativity by walsh, his biggest problem when he was here

He was a devastating scorer in college, I saw that he was a scorer, not just a shooter. But his handles and passing were not nearly as good as they are now. I had no idea how unathletic guys like him and Love would thrive in NBA, but his much improved dribbling and passing really skyrocketed his game. His handles and passing are at elite level now, mix them with already elite shooting skill and elite scoring awareness, he's become an elite player.

The only pg on that list I take over Hills is Holliday. Ty and Teague are your average run of the mill chucking combo guards. There is very little separating Shane Larkin from those guy, for example. Jrue at least shoots 45% from the field..

Teague is having his best season right now at 47%, but overall his career is known for low-efficiency offense and low assist totals.

There were a couple of people that thought he was going to be a bust. I wasn't one of them. I believed his skillset @Davidson could translate into the NBA and it did. He's pretty much has Steve Nash 's shot combined with the penetrating ability of a Derrick Rose.

I thought this was common knowledge. There were reports of mutual interest from both sides before that draft
