May 7, 2005 - Round 10 highlights from one of the most highly regarded boxing matches of all time. Lightweight champions Diego "Chico" Corrales and José Luis Castillo engaged in an all-out unification battle that was awarded the 2005 Fight of the Year.

This is what all you casual fans where hoping to see this past weekend. Corrales was the last fighter I remember someone picking against Floyd (this was before the hand problems when he would let his hands go).

Nice fight. One thing, though, how come the ref let Corrales go down twice and didn't stop the fight but didn't give Castillo a chance to recover.
I will only cherish the wins and ignore everything else, because that's the only way to survive as a Knicks fan.

Corrales went down quickly. got on one knee, gathered himself, got up, was able to follow the referee's instructions, and as soon as Castillo started in on him, he demonstrated the ability to defend himself (hands up) and he fired back.

Unfortunately for Castillo, the ropes held him up, he was out and his hands were down. the referee could of let him take a few more shots----but giving a pro boxer a clean shot at another man who is out on his feet is pretty awful. I can't blame the ref for that one.

this guy is an excellent ref. pay attention to him---the whole time he was watching the fighters' eyes.---the second the light went out in Castillo's eyes and his head snapped back--the ref stepped in. another clean shot could of killed him.

I've become such a wuss. I can't even watch this fight without crying. it's so beautiful and heartbreaking at the same time.

This was a great fight, despite the shenanigans with the mouthpiece. I wished we would've gotten to see the 3rd fight, but Castillo could never make weight. Although Corrales has weight issues too. RIP

I too remember watching this live thinking it could be a good fight. Turned out to be the greatest fight I've ever seen. I'm a huge Gatti fan so I love his trilogy with Ward but this is #1 for me.

For others that want another fight like this check out John Duddy vs. Yory Boy Campos (at MSG!)

I'm with you man. I don't cry at this but to me this fight is the greatest single example of a perfect display of a sport. Is there a single baseball, basketball, or football game that can do this? I wish I could get my hands on this fight in HD, it's like a perfect piece of art that was only drawn on a 8 x 10 piece of loose leaf.
