With our first selection in free agency the Miami Heat select:

Norman Powell







Norman Powell fits this team to a tee. He is a guy with a tough, defensive mentality, with plenty of athleticism, wingspan (6'11"), and size (6'4", 215lbs) to cause havoc to 3 positions defensively (PG/SG/SF). He is a great help defender, who uses his long arms to strip the ball off drivers that are near him, make passing lanes extremely difficult, as well as protect the rim. Man to man, he's a very good defender who can lock down his man and strip the ball from him at a given opportunity.

Because of Powell's ability to handle the ball some, our depth at primary ball handler and the ability to defend the PG position, we felt no need to go for another PG. Offensively, Powell has a good mid-range game and the ability to use his handle to get to the rim. He also posses the ability to take contact and finish. Powell has an improving 3 point shooting range, but as of now, he will primarily be a slasher and defender for our team. Welcome to the Heat!
