A dental hygienist is better for this type of thing than a dentist. They focus more on cosmetics. Most decent dental offices now have both and a periodontist as well. Shouldn't be hard to find one and set it up.

I've been doing oil pulling now for a couple of years. I had a couple of problematic teeth and after the first couple of days, the pain and irritation with them went completely away.

I highly recommended oil pulling. I've actually located a clinical study in India that chronicles how oil pulling actually loosens plaque, and allows for brushing to be that much more effective.

Crest white strips work (as does their two step toothpaste). If it bothers your teeth, do it every other day or so.

Basically it's just like vigorous swishing, but you try to suck the oil between your teeth. Some people swear by it. I've tried it, not noticed much, but I tried it with the oils I had at home, Olive oil & Flax (not together). bleh, Flax taste's terrible. I don't know how people take a tea-spoon of that stuff. I have to take my Omega-3 flax in pill form.

Web MD recommends the same oils Duetta uses (I just looked it up). http://www.webmd.com/oral-health/features/oil-pulling

There's no shortage of articles on it out there. I stumbled across one a while back reading about Avocado Oil, which some people swear by as a cooking oil.

Put a teaspoon of oil in your mouth and then swish like crazy. I usually go for 20-30 minutes right after waking up, while hurling insults at David Brooks in The NY Times. Then you spit it out, and brush your teeth. It absolutely loosens plaque - but it may do more than that. Some people believe it helps remove toxins from gums and the tissues of the body. I can't prove that.
