Why don't more athletes want to move to NYC? Is it a tax reason or something? Or is playing for a good team really that important to a lot of them?

I would have thought every rich 20 something would want to live in the most exciting city in the world. As a foreigner myself, moving here was the best decision I ever made.

I could see Russell wanting to move here post basketball to expand his fashion label. He already has a deal in place with Barneys.

He also had a deal with true religion and they opened up a store in Brooklyn by the Barclays and he was part of the grand opening. It seems like he would be interested in NYC, especially since he loves fashion so much

Yeah, he's here all the time for fashion week and was a big part of it this year.

I would have thought every rich 20 something would want to live in the most exciting city in the world. As a foreigner myself, moving here was the best decision I ever made.

Because:

(i) Being in a big market for a professional athlete isn't paramount in terms of endorsements anymore; winning matters and the organizations in these big markets have been horrible for far too long now;

(ii) These guys are on the road for half the season and have summer homes in big cities (like L.A.). You or me moving to NYC is huge because we finally get a piece of that environment, these guys have cash and can generally go to nyc or any other city whenever they feel in the offseason.

(iii) The cost of living/taxes is a huge dent in their ultimate earnings, which is why it is appealing to go to Texas/FLA.
