Durant has a chance, he'll likely play in 2020 and if 2024 is in LA then I'm pretty sure guys will be chomping at the bit to play

What do you mean who the hell wants to? Are we still downplaying Gold medals?

Durant would be like 35 in 2024. Even if he was still good enough to make the team i doubt he would go.

Aside from needing to make the team early in their career, the next 4-time Olympian has to be someone who knows they'll never win a title and needs to make themselves feel better about their legacy :o

Trump just got a little happier

I heard that too. Just chalk it up to Melo being at a loss for words. Trump does not have his support.

Trump and a little happy sounds about right, if you get my drift.

Melo's final stats for the Olympics this summer

8 games
23.3 mpg
12.1 ppg
39.3% fg's
40.0% 3pt fg's
61.9% ft's
5.3 rpg
2.3 apg

His overall fg % doesn't look pretty pretty nor his ft %, but the 3pt fg% is fantastic considering he was attempting 5.6 three per game.

Early prediction, but I think Melo is gonna jack up about 6-7 threes per game. Hopefully he continues hitting them at a high clip. As long as he's making his threes, that's less work that Melo has to do under the hoop and less of a pounding he'll take throughout the season.

Of course, his free throw % was atrocious, and not at all like in the NBA. I don't understand that. Is there that much difference in the ball or the rim?

Ginobili also shot 60% from the free throw line, Melo just plain missed makable shots and free throws. I was more pleased with the elevation he was getting and when he actually did try and use his burst he looked healthy.

I had that feeling, too. Overall, I'm looking forward to a good year from him. He did manage to elevate when rebounding and blocking shots, too. He was very active on defense. I'm really glad the US won the gold, but now I'm really thinking about the NBA season. This is going to be a very slow month until training camps start.

Same, I'm looking forward to the videos of the team gathering in New York in the next few weeks. Media day is about 5 weeks away so there's that.

As for Melo I think this is gonna be a bounce back year for him, he's gonna be able to focus on doing what he does best scoring and just rebounding, playing defense and making the right play instead of being the focal point of the entire team like the last 2 years.

Back in 1992, the Dream Team's Charles Barkley came off the Olympics, led the Phoenix Suns to their ONLY trip to the NBA Finals and secured an MVP. I hope Melo has the same kind of season with the Knicks.

Can you post his medal round stats please as that's when the games actually count and that is where Melo displayed his best leadership.

Melos lack of lift and finishing ability around the rim is worrying. His jumper was way off the last couple of games. Was missing lots of free throws too. He didnt really use his best isolation moves (jab step) in the playoffs since he was holding the ball for extended periods at a minimum.

Melo stopped dunking furiously for quite a while already, he used to be jumping real high and dunking real hard but for what ever reason it was, he stopped since his days with the Nuggets and I've been wondering why too.

Melo is old enough to be familiar with guys like McGrady and other who shortened their careers with those "thunderous dunks."

Return to New York Knicks
