No, its not that at all. It's the fact that Westbrook is a free agent next season. Why should we give up future picks if he were interested in coming here.?This sounds like the Melo situation all over again. What I want is Westbrook WITH what we could get with the draft, not putting us in a predicament where we have no additonal assets to fall back on. Because I darn sure ain't trading for Westbrook if he decides he doesn't want to resign here.
Two future first round picks may not seem like much right now, but you never know. I don't want us to go through this again where we didn't have those picks to fall back on if disaster strikes or if they could be the difference maker AFTER we have an established team; not before.
It really depends on the start. If we start red hot and look like contenders, then it makes sense to pull the trigger on a player like Westbrook. Like in baseball. Contenders buy, looking to get over that hump. The future is now. It's only been like 50 years since we won it all....
Even if we did the deal I mention got him on a rental I am good. Westbrook Rose= best back court in NBA. Melo KP Noah best front court. I'm swinging for the fenses, go for the title if it looks in reaendif he leaves in the end I still have my big three.
