Problem is thats what he was in his prime. At his best, with full mobility and strength and health he was a hustle player. I hope you're right about these many injuries or else were looking at our next Malik Rose. Ineffective role player who just talks too much

I would be worried if this was a non-contact injury. But this was a case of injury caused by another player (Tokoto). Which falls under the incidental category. Now the hammy, shoulder, and knee injuries were non-contact which are indicators of brittleness, injury-prone, attrition, and player breakdown. If he suffers another non-contact injury, that's when I'll panic.

i really hope he works out. but besides the injuries, you have to hope he can bounce back on the court because his last couple years he was falling off. the odds are probably not in our favor.

Noah falls under the same category as Jennings. He simply wants to be a knick. I think he will get at least 2 years of his old form. Half of Noah is better than most NBA centers so im not complaining. Cant underestimate the fact he's a leader. He will get in Melo's face and Melo likes when he is around leaders to push him.

However

It is same story almost every season. He suppose had great summer, however injured during pre-season. His condition fall apart during off time and will need couple months for him to play back in shape. Once he played back in shape, he will play great for couple months than some how end up injured again right around playoff. I don't recall Noah was healthy during bulls playoff game in recent years.

Some blamed Thibs for over used Noah, but imo he put up too much weights after that epic 7 games Boston series. He should have keep lean and strong due to his play style and he should play 4 instead 5. Once he bulk up during the summer after Boston series, it is never ending lower body injury such as plantar fasciitis, ankle injury and knee problem.

Maybe Knicks will have better luck with Noah even with the rocky start.

Here's a hint- Most guys are not completely healthy at the start of the playoffs. An 82 game season wears down everybody. The question is, how many PLAYOFF games has Noah actually missed in his career? I'll wait for you to come back with that answer

I have a hard time believing any other team was going to go near what the Knicks paid him. It's kind of the same feel when the Knicks signed Alan Houston in terms of who they were bidding against. Same way it felt like Layden was bidding against no one but himself when he resigned Houston, it feels now that Jackson was bidding against no one but himself for Noah.

NOTE: I didn't like Houston much at all to begin with (I wanted Reggie Miller), do like Noah a lot so I don't have the same negative feelings about this as I did with Houston (over Miller). But that contract Jackson gave Noah IMO was unnecessary and he would have been able to be had for less.

I believe Wizards and Nets were ready to give Noah same money.

The Wizards rumor was supposedly debunked. Never heard of any Nets rumors.

Yeah - I mean given all the deals that went down this summer Noah's really doesn't seem horrible in my mind and I do think he was going to get an offer somewhere. I think in Phil's mind it's often about respect and showing the player (via the contract he offers him) that he truly respects him.

Remains to be seen whether this is a good or bad deal --- Noah is frail by NBA standards and the way he plays the game certainly leads to contact, hitting the floor and putting the body thru some extra wear/tear. Love what he could bring -- hope he is able to.

He was the defensive player of the year right? I mean that is a tad more than a hustle player - right?

The league is littered with hustle players but those guys are not typically 6'11" with elite mobility and a b-ball IQ that is off the charts.
Let's not forget that Noah with his passing and unselfish play is almost the perfect fit next Melo, Rose and KP. I don't care if he scores - don't need that from him. Just need him healthy - somehow/someway.

Is the media praying that this team fails?

Post#158 » by JXL » Fri Oct 14, 2016 4:19 pm

I see reading through the tea leaves that most media outlets are looking at this roster with a confused look, thinking "Too many frail elements can destroy this team". Can they be right? Is the way PJax built this roster (through free agency for the 2nd season) looking more and more disappointing? Running down the list

-Acquiring 2 former Bulls who have injury concerns (Rose, Noah)
-Hiring a head coach who came from a volatile situation (Hornacek from Phoenix)
-Building a thin bench
-Keeping a polarizing star and budding him with an up-and-coming elite player

Will the media infect their harsh opinions on this team, or will this roster make them eat ****?
