Here's a fun fact....

The Knicks were above .500 when this thread was made.

OP, for tanking purposes, you are the real MVP.

What a difference a couple months make.

He's been above average offensively, but predictable.

Defensively he's also been predictable. And easy to game plan for. That max contract just ain't happening. I could see him starting somewhere else. But execs are slick these days. He'll get paid much more modestly I think.

Never saw a bigger jinx in my life than this, this thread should resurface every week to remind us how we should keep our feet on the ground and stay humble

And suddenly you realize that all of this Derrick Rose "playing for a contract" type of talk (due to his re-emergence) is complete garbage.

I actually think I understand what the point is and I agree (if the intended point is what I think it is). I don't think Rose is playing for a contract. I think Rose is playing the same way he's always played and the "production" is commensurate with his skills, current physical health and team construction. Doesn't mean that he's a perfect player nor that he should be brought back but if the OP was trying to defend Rose from attacks that the only reason he's even doing what he's doing is because he's looking for a contract, I actually agree with him. You dont become MVP if you only play because of money. Rose may have plenty of warts but IF folks are accusing him of contract hunting I think you are misguided and wrong.

Derrick Rose is a scrub at this point end of story.

Can he score some buckets? Sort of at a very inefficient rate while being a very poor 3 point shooter.

Is he a good playmaker? No he has no court vision and has the bball iq of a rock. Is he a good defender? No he is putrid on that end.
Is he a durable player? Lol no.

And suddenly you realize that all of this Derrick Rose "playing for a contract" type of talk (due to his re-emergence) is complete garbage.

All of these players mentioned above are currently on their final year of an NBA contract ("with families to feed") but yet none (not a single one) has actually averaged 20.0 points, 4.3 assists & 4.0 rebounds per game off of 108/222 from the field (.486%) throughout their previous 14 games (as has Derrick Rose).

Derrick Rose has re-emerged as an impactful NBA talent but yet there are (certain) posters who claim he's only playing at this current level due to "a contract year" as their go-to excuse in order to both discredit and slight the ability and production in which Rose is currently putting up.

Well, what about everyone else who's on a contract year with families to feed? What type of production and overall numbers are they currently putting up? Exactly.

In closing the re re-emerge of Derrick Rose as an impactful NBA player has everything to do with his hard work, player attributes, overall talents and actual player abilities now that he's finally at full health; and little to do with "contract year".

Those players mentioned above only goes to show my point.

N.Y may have lost the game but nonetheless Rose himself showed his worth, ability & overall value on Christmas Day.

So play making, passing, making your teammates better, defense and leadership doesn't count?

Hey, if we don't land a game changing talent in the draft, I'm all for another year or tanking. Derek Helps that cause.
We can just trade Rose for a pick at the end of the year (after signing him) but that probably hurts the tank. Then Melo can decide if he wants to help us tank.

Lee doesn't deserve to be benched, but I would like to see the Rose-Baker backcourt for a couple of weeks. I think the only hope of winning with a Rose at this point in his career is by having a shooting guard who actually runs the offense - since Rose does not.

My take on d rose. I would love to keep rose, the problem is that he will not take a pay cut, and he will not take a 6th man role. Add into the fact that we don't have a functional basketball club and it makes no sense to retain him. Rose would be a great back up point guard or a combo guard with a facilitator next to him in the starting lineup at all times. He should never be our starting point guard. With that being said get me a tall pg 6'5 and up that can defend, pass and shoot at a decent clip and I'm all for keeping rose next season provided that we can get him at a decent price. Highly unlikely, but that's what it would take.
Lets Go Knicks!!!
