Knicks' front office have labeled Phoenix Suns forward P.J. Tucker as a potential trade target, league sources told ESPN

Read on Twitter

There could, however, be some roster changes ahead. The trade deadline is less than two months away, and the Knicks, like every other team in the NBA, are looking at their options. It doesn’t seem as if any move is imminent, but some members of the Knicks' front office have labeled Phoenix Suns forward P.J. Tucker as a potential trade target, league sources told ESPN.com.

The club is in need of tough defenders, and Tucker has earned a reputation as a strong defender over his five-year career. This season, he ranks 22nd among 80 qualified small forwards in ESPN’s defensive RPM. That might not seem like an elite measurement, but Tucker would certainly seem to be an upgrade for a Knicks club in need of one.

The question in any Knicks trade, of course, is what the club is giving up. The Knicks have several attractive young players, such as Willy Hernangomez, Kyle O’Quinn and Mindaugas Kuzminskas. They also have draft picks, but Jackson and the Knicks' front office informed teams last season that they weren’t going to part with future first-round picks.

That would be an awful trade and short sited. KOQ is worth much more than Tucker. Adding one "defense stopper" from the bench wont fix our issues if our starting lineup gets burned nightly. The problem begins and ends with melo on defense...

Depends on the contract situation because the Knicks are tapped out. How much does PJ make? This doesn't solve the no point guard problem but it PJ Tucker is a good player.

LOL, I remember when people were discussing KOQ for a mid 1st rounder not so long ago. In real life, it's KOQ for PJ Tucker

Could be O'Quinn, but Phx already have Tyson, Len, Dragen, and Chriss. Dont think they need/want Kyle unless they plan to trade Tyson soon.

Lance Thomas is a definite trade option. Same goes for Kuz. Those 3 are the likely candidates if we indeed trade for Tucker.

Wouldn't be shocked if it happened. Both Jeff and Phil's jobs are on the line, so they're going to look short-term rather than long-term.

No way they are getting o quinn for tucker unless they take on lance thomas as well. I think we will give up a 2nd round pick + fillers for tucker.

31 year old role playing SF is not doing anything for us. Stop trying to patch holes on the Titanic and realize what we are.

I can't imagine the offer is KOQ for Tucker unless there's a pick involved. KOQ is not only miles ahead of Tucker, he's also much younger.
And just like that, the lead has been cut to 8!

Who would the Knicks realistically replace Hornacek with in your mind? Like I would love to know why you think he'd be out this soon when Fisher was given a year and change with no prior coaching experience.

I would not mind PJ Tucker at all.

If it's for O'Quinn, then it frees up minutes for Hernangomez!

There are a few real contenders who can outbid that if they had interest. I like him, but what I'd like more is to see Jeff try to utilize what we have better. IE give more minutes to Holiday with the starters sans Noah

Begley same one who initially broke the story of Knicks talking Rose trade. Will it get done? Who knows. But I wouldnt discount it as a baseless rumor.

Jeff could use at least one guy in the locker room who played for him on the Suns who would have his back. Tucker might be that guy.
