Knicks Rookie Love

Willy 10th on the Rookie Ladder - dropping due to minutes fluctuations
http://www.nba.com/rookie-ladder

10. Willy Hernangomez, New York Knicks

Last week: No. 9

Still getting very inconsistent minutes, still in the top three in three key categories: first in field goal percentage, second in PIE and third in rebounding, along with being ninth in blocks and sixth in Defensive Rating. Maybe the choppy role eventually costs him, as it did once before. For now, he beats out Brandon Ingram for the final spot on the strength of a much better PER and a much better defensive rating and because a grouping of top-threes matters.

Kuz has the best offensive rating among rookies :-) obviously leaves some to be desired on defense. Willy rising to the top of the class.

If we're gonna keep losing, might as well play Willy consistent minutes. He and KP are our future front court unless we fkuc it up and trade him.

No KP will be a 5. Willy is a rotation player

Rose/Lee/Kuz/KP/Willy could be our best unit but don't think I've seen that group together.

William H. Gomez was such a great addition. Awesome pick by the Knicks. Draws many comparisons to Marc Gasol, being a second round pick and all. And some people had laughed at that comparison just a few months ago.

KP, Will, KOQ, Kuz, Holiday, Baker, Plumlord is a nice young group. All the other negative stuff aside, the Knicks have a good looking young core of guys to build on and shift around if need be.

If the Knicks trade Willy you can close the book on this franchise forever

The important question is: Will Willy make the rising stars game?

Just noticed that Kuz is better than almost all of the others as well. And he is the only one on the positive side of the offensive spectrum. Hmmmm

Yeah - that's more a measure of how poor the team/guards are. Embiid has the highest O-ranking of their starters. He's a really good offensive player already.

Those little stinkers are probably gonna get one of the good guards in this draft class though.

Willy definitely needs more playing time. And he needs to be involved on the offensive end. There are stretches when he's out there when he doesn't even touch the ball. In his last 5 games, he's averaged 2 shots.

Willy just needs to cut down on turnovers, a common rookie problem but for a big, more important to cut down. He passes well though. He will be really good. I'm not even worried about his D.

It's weird though because a few games he'll come in and screw up a bunch of plays but when he gets extended minutes he seems to cut back on it. The Doug Christie jitters, if you remember that whole fiasco.

Problem is we have an old win-now team and Jeff/Phil are on the hot seat to get a playoff spot, even though we suck :noway:

unfortunaly 4 of the 7 guys play the same position, 2 aren't young and baker is borderline nba talent...

Embiid? He's far away the best on that chart in defense and among the best in offense.
