Melos been highly coveted enough to know his flaws are not something GMs will shy away from. He was courted by Chicago twice, Nets tried getting him for years, Knicks, Rockets, Mavs, Lakers, Clippers in 2011 were in on the trade rumors, Hawks wanted him, you even got OKC checking in.

Like I said Phil has shown other GMs Melos value is higher than Phil values him. A GM is going to pay Phil was he values Melo at not what they value him at or what Melos true value is.

If you're selling something for $5 dollars but I know it's worth $100 I'm not handing you over a C-Note, you will this $5 and I will profit off of that.

Melos flaws are overstated by many in New York, he'll go to LA or Cleveland and prosper.

If Phil showed he valued Melo then he could justify asking for a better net gain but he hasn't so why should we expect a great return on our investment.

I'm not sure where you are getting the information from about Phil selling low on Melo. All the reports I've heard are saying that the Knicks asking price is too high right now. Obviously, the GM's are the ones being turned off by the offer because they don't value Melo as high, not the other way around. I mean you say Melo is better than Kevin Love, the Cavs should be jumping on that offer, right? Yet, we got rejected. Your version of the story is not matching up to the actual events taking place.

Again why would the Cavs give up Love for a player Phil doesn't value. You're missing that point.

I didn't say Phil was selling low, I said Phil has shown that he doesn't value Melo highly so his asking price doesn't equal what he's expecting to get on his return.

It's like a salesman comes to your house and shows you a product but only highlights the flaws then says write me a check for $1,000. What would you do?

It's nothing like that, at all. You seriously think Phil is making offers to teams and telling them the flaws about Melo during their conversation? Melo has been in the league for almost 14 years now, there is enough footage on him available that GM's and coaches can easily go study and look at and evaluate the value of the player. They don't need Phil Jackson's quotes to determine the value of the player for them. GM's and coaches look at how players fit in with what they are trying to do and how the player fits in with what they are trying to do. They aren't going around telling each other, "well Melo is a ball stopper and doesn't play defense, Phil Jackson said so, it must be true" . C'mon you really think that's how it works?

It's like if you are buying a car and someone tells you all the flaws about the car, it's up to you to determine whether or not you could work around those flaws and if the value for it makes sense to YOU. If you are a mechanic and can fix the flaws yourself and in the end boost the value of that car because of your ability to work through those flaws, then you make the best decision for you, doesn't matter what the guy who sold it to you said.

Boston, Cleveland, and LAC aren't willing to give up much for Melo, but I think that teams like the Kings, Hornets, Pistons etc would be very interested in Melo...he's just not gonna go there

Boston may not WANT to give up that much in assets, but when you look at the depth they have, plus 1st round picks from BK (swap in 17, outright one in 18), Clippers 2019 1st, 2019 from Memphis and 6 2nd rounders over 3 years, they have the pieces to more than just cheap in deal, while maintaining the valuable 2017 pick Swap with the Nets.

Again, I think Ainge waits for a younger, and/or bigger impact player, but on the other hand, they could pick up Melo, part with a couple of guys and a couple of picks and STILL be in the mix talent/asset wise for a good player

Yep - wouldn't even have to move Rose. He would look much better with addition 2 solid defensive players but I don't see chance in hell that already struggling defensively Celtics hand us Smart/Crowder.
