white wash? Kevin does great stand up, but some of his clips do get stale. Started watching his show (through Netflix), but I think with ANY celeb you can't just watch the same few notes over and over. Why not mix it up a bit? I think before Kevin, Nelly was the sports celeb (still is, he was talking NFL a month ago). Just surprising they don't reach out to more names, ain't like Trump is running the event!

As long as they don't bring in the Beiber, I am open to something fresh.

Chappelle is in a different stratosphere.

Jim Carrey did stand up and Kevin is similar. They both have a relatively narrow scope, a clearly defined character. Kevin does a GREAT job with story telling while he is doing his other stuff, but these tid-bits like when he was at the Sixers game lacks the depth.

Anyone remember how Kenny Smith made the dunk contest unwatchable with the annual "The dunk contest is back!!" NBA should hire a real hype man if that's what they want, Kenny Smith is NOT a hype man.

Kevin Hart is stale, but he's a decent entertainer. He also actually plays basketball and has connections to the game, so he fits in more than someone else who might be just a casual fan.

The guy has become a product to shill things. That's all he does now that he has people sit around and write his jokes, he's busy harping Nike shoes and socks, posting workout/running videos.

His new Netflix special was the first time ever I couldn't sit through one of his specials. He's a funny person, but not really a great comedian. One of the worst things about him is his ''pre-laugh". It kills his entire joke, that he takes a 20 minute story to tell. He's a funny guy, and can come in front of a camera on a show and be funny for 15 minutes, but it didn't work on his new special, he couldn't stand there for two hours and just be him....it was obvious he didn't put in work in writing his material like he has in the past.

That being said, him being funny and likeable gets him a lot of friends in the NBA, he's a clean cut guy and always seems to send positive messages so I can see why he's around ASW. It's entertainment, he's entertaining in front of a camera, he loves basketball, and his self deprecating humor works around tall NBA players, it's a good partnership imo.

But what is his purpose there? I would much rather be watching Shaq and Kobe hanging out at the ASG. Let KG loose in a Craig Segar suit (with the shoes too) and let him both honor the lost icon and entertain the masses. That would be far more entertaining. A retirees vs pros skills challenge with Ray Allen and Allan Houston vs guys like Klay and Beal would be fun.

To entertain. ASW is a basketball entertainment expo. Kevin Hart might be stale or not everyone's cup of tea, but he can entertain. If not, he would not be making bank in Hollywood. Ride Along 2 made over $90M in domestic gross and $120M worldwide, and there will be a Ride Along 3 :D That's how many people who enjoy Kevin Hart.

And I count myself among them. That's the the issue. Beyonce has been awesome for over a decade and she doesn't play the superbowl every year...

My point on Beyonce though is that just because someone is talented doesn't mean they should be put on repeat and others not afforded the opportunity.
