Phil isn't senile (although he looks like it). He's just bad at his job. Just because you were a great coach and you know basketball doesn't mean you'll be great at running a team. Same with players who become head coaches.

Phil's gotta' answer every question with: Melo/Rose future undecided, KP and Willy, youth, role players, scouting the draft. The question doesn't even matter. Zen Mind Tricks required.

What went wrong
The ball sticks to Melo too much
Rose only passes as a last resort and his jumper is "meh"
Phil had to give Melo a NTC or he would have left and he went and resigned Melo because he's a go to scorer even though he has faults and because...wait for it.....because NYC you have to have stars because that's the way NY'ers are.
If Phil truly believes that last sentence that was spoonfed to Rosen, then we are in deep ****, as Phil basically went "Oh, it's NYC, I must starf*ck often", over teambuilding. Maybe I'm overreacting, but I thought the maybe one good thing Phil brought was being much too smart for that.
edit* - apologies, didn't see a whole topic devoted to Rosen article.
Note to self: Put down the Thursday night chronic.
Rosen:
But there’s another reason why Jackson was forced to lure Melo back to New York: Knicks fans in the Big Apple are averse to any suggestion that their beloved team might be undertaking a rebuilding process. However, their reluctance to accept such a program can be entirely mitigated if a superstar player can be the focus of whatever enthusiasm they can muster.
FAKE NEWS! The guy is such a hack it's disgusting.

I remember when phil was hired and it seemed he would do these talks regularly. Boy was that wrong! He's been terrible in that aspect as well. Press relations and PR remain a weakness for this team.

This is a fair assessment. It just didn't work, the coach and players are to blame too...a change in culture is needed. But it didn't work...
If you have no critics you'll likely have no success.

Yes he thinks he's punishing the media but he just looks like a disconnected sore loser.
Phil should show up wearing a trash bag and own the job he's done.

Something on my mind...I implore everybody to watch the press conference without reading board descriptions or media tweets; figure out what you think Phil is saying and THEN look at the perspectives from the media and others. The media has framed Phil's comments HORRENDOUSLY consistently.

What happened to the exit interviews yesterday? Did they happen or they are today? If it was yesterday, surprised there was no media availability

They typically do but I didn't double-check. I usually check FB, streaming press conferences on Social Media seems like it snuck up on me but everyone does it now.

How about this trade?
FYI, Knicks send both their 2nd round picks in the deal to Denver contingent with Gallinari accepts an extension of roughly $18 million a year for 4-5 years.

In short, all I am saying is RJ-Brunson-Grimes-Quickley-Randle are the untouchables moving forward.

No no no, Gallinari is injury prone and unidimensional. I prefer a come back of Wilson Chandler !

In the article it said Phil might have hurt Melos trade value by ripping him. I doubt very much Phil would rip himself if he was Rosens ghostwriter lol

Article also said that Phil deserves most of the blame for the team this year
Wonder why nobody mentions that part of it
Oh yeah, cause it doesn't fit the narrative

Rosen is Phil's mouthpiece, but everything Rosen writes isn't entirely Phil thoughts. He throws some of his observation in as well, thus the collection of thought in that article. Phil relayed some, some of it was rosen.

Re: Phil will talk today at 2:30
I like what Wally Sczerbiak said on the radio two days ago on the Hahn humpty and canty podcast. Phil with salary cap restraints and no assests got help for melo and the team was bad melo got to look at himself like "maybe I'm not as good as I think I am" simple as that. You're not trading trash for an allstar simple as that. You're signing a allstar with the way the cba is unless your team is already winning. Simple
