Looking back at 2015 draft

Post#1 » by StarksChoked » Thu Jul 6, 2017 3:50 am

Knicks lucked out. I remember many were upset that Knicks got the 4th pick. But looking back at that draft it looks like the only star players or franchise players to come out of that draft was Towns,Porzingis and Booker. If Knicks get picks 2 and 3 idk if knicks select Porzingis. Phil jackson would have to go into hiding if he passed on Russel or Okafor.

i missed big time on Dangelo Russell.

I thought he was going to be the next Ginobili.

Good news is that I had KP as #2, and in this years draft I have Tatum as #2.

hopefully we hit the jackpot with frank.. not even expecting a star but at the NBA level if he proves to be an elite defender with point guard like tactics and can hit some shots that would be solid value at 8th.

he wasnt worth the #2 but still a decent/good player, i wouldn't put the nail in the coffin on him just yet he's only 21. I think he'll be playing with a chip on his shoulder this year

Towns kp and booker.... Yup. We def lucked out because I guarantee u if we had the number 2 pick d'angelo wouldve been snitching on melo to lala and boom goes the dynamite.

Towns, Porzingis, Turner, Booker, Portis, Hernangomez. We got 2 of them. Not bad.

Pure luck. That's why I am hoping our guys this year, Frank and Dotson, prove to be solid guys for us for many years. The best possible situation I can see for our team is to develop our young guys this year. Let KP be the star and leader of the team, have Frank, Dotson, Hernangomez, and whatever other young guys we bring in this year play major minutes.

Embrace a horrible season in terms of wins, but a great season in terms of growth. Hope that we get another future star in the 2018 draft to pair with KP, Frank, and whoever else emerges. The immediate future is bleak, but with some luck and some time to develop with a solid core in place, we could be legit contenders within 4-5 years. That might seem long, but..

If we don't do that, keeping Melo, Lee, and other vets, we will be in a similar situation where we get a pick in the 7-12 range, adding another potentially solid but most likely not game changing guys. We need to fully commit to being terrible this year, while also fully committing to developing our young guys that show potential. This is the most crucial year, because we need to add another potential all-star before KP gets too old or breaks down due to injury. We need the core in place as early as possible so that they can pull off a GSW (2013), Portland (2013), or even Knicks (2013) kind of run within two-three years, and then be legit contenders by 2020-2021.

Russell is still only 21 and he has Atkinson now. He'll be a future All-Star.

At one point in the year 2014, 20 years later, you decided on "StarksChoked" as your username.
