OT: ESPN Title Town

Post#1 » by randomhero423 » Sat Jul 12, 2008 8:25 pm

Who do you think should be selected on ESPN's title town thing?

I gotta say it's Los Angeles and it's really not close.

1) UCLA Bruins basketball - 11 championships
2) Los Angeles Lakers - 9 championships (in LA)
3) USC Football - 6 championships
4) Los Angeles Dodgers - 5 championships (in LA)

that's pretty damn good.

outside of NYY, no one is really dominant like the way the UCLA/USC/LAL teams were.

NYK is 4th on NBA final apperances (LAL is #1)
NYM has only won 2 world series's (LAA won 1)
STJ has never won a ncaa championship, only NIT's (although back in the day they were seen as on par with the NCAA championships)
NYR are 6th all time in stanley cup wins
NYG are tied for 4th most superobwl wins.

Wiat, someone cares about ESPN programs...what is this 1995?
ESPN is a joke and are hoping to up their sagging ratings with this pathetic title town crap. You learn much more from the internet than watching TV and ESPCrap.

Obviously it's either LA or Boston, probably LA, but yeah, these things are so stupid.

I hate title town with a passion. Every time ESPN does something like this it makes me sick. It's the most boring thing in the world. You can even hear the boredom in the anchors' voices every time they introduce the segment. F**k ESPN.

The only reason I have some respect for Espn because its based in CT and it gives the state some credibility. But other than that I really don't care for it much at all anymore.

I have this weird conspiracy ESPN is just trying to hype their boys in NE/Boston a little more, I mean, c'mon everyone was saying how dominant Boston sports has been since 2000, so it's the most fresh in people's minds, then they come up with this title town...I don't think that much of it, it's in the same bs category as "who's now"
Dwight Howard on his FT struggles:

"I just think everybody needs to stop talking about it," Howard said. "There's more to life than free throws."
