OT: WHO IS THE BEST STAND UP COMIC?

Post#1 » by STAR3URY3 » Sat Aug 16, 2008 3:21 am

Who is the best stand up comic, I just wanna watch some comedy right now and don't know who to search for. I really liked Russel Peters style, but I saw a lot of him already.

Maybe your thread title should close with a question mark instead of an exclamation point. I was disappointed when I opened it and realized that you weren't making a declaration, simply asking a question.

I like Russell Peters (and i'm Indian). I find him hilarious. I just think he lacks the variety in his material that I seek from someone who I think is the BEST stand up comic.

I can't even think of who I would give that title. But, the best performance I've ever seen was Godfrey a few weeks ago at the cellar. He was flat out amazing. He put on a set that extended well beyond the length of 2.5 sets because the crowd kept begging for more and most of it was fresh material (i've seen him before).

Edit: not Gilbert, this one:

Tony Roberts and IMO it isn't even close. He does need to do some fresh material. I haven't heard anything new from although I think he still performs.

There is no greater comic alive than the one and only Dave Chappelle.

Chappelle is hands down the best, it may sound cliche but he truly mops the floor with anyone else. look for "killing them softly" thats his most classic one, also "for what its worth" absolutely amazing as well.

Mitch Hedberg is absolutley incredible, his style takes time to get used to but i personally think hes one of the funniest people to have ever walked the earth

Pable Francicso is amazing, does great voices, try to find his standup entitle "bits and pieces"

Greg Giraldo is solid

Nick Dipaulo is also very funny.

Ben Bailey

Judah Friedlander

You wont go wrong with any of those but i highly recommend Pable Francisco and Mitch Hedberg, you wont be let down by them.

Chapelle is funny but he's so overrated and this wasn't a funniest comedian or sketch comedian thread it was BEST STAND UP COMIC thread.

I miss Chapelle but like I said overrated by so many.

Eddie Griffin's latest one "Freedom of Speech" was hilarious. If you want some old school, checkout Eddie Murphy.
