It's right for the most part--but of course everyone knows who the best SGs in the game are...you shouldn't need a list from sportsline.

You easily could have Arenas, Ellis, Barbosa, Magette on this list going by who they have on it.

20. J.R. Smith, Denver: Smith just edged out New York's Jamal Crawford for No. 20 on the list. Of course, Crawford's numbers are better than Smith's. Crawford is a big-minute starter and Smith comes off the bench. But if you give Smith a longer leash and some playing time, would he be any less effective than Crawford?

Smith can't handle the ball like Crawford and also has low assist numbers.

Sure, Smith shoots a high percentage, but what guard wouldn't if opposing defenses are so focused on guarding Allen Iverson and Carmelo Anthony.

Some of the players listed on the list are not shooting guards. This is how I would modify the list that CBS posted:

1. Kobe Bryant
2. Dwayne Wade
3. Tracy McGrady (Past his prime now, his body has taken a beating, but he can still carry a team)
4. Manu Ginobili
5. Joe Johnson (Such an all around beast at SG)
6. Vince Carter (You put him on a good team where he's the 2nd or 3rd best player, and he would easily be considered a top 5 SG, even if he's never fulfilled expectations)
7. Brandon Roy (I actually consider him a little overrated)
8. Richard Hamilton (Barely edges out Ray Allen)
9. Ray Allen (This low only cause he's gotten older. His last seasons in Seattle, he was still a top 5 SG, arguably top 3 at times)
10. Michael Redd (Lately getting a rep of having a cancerous attitude, being a ball hog, and playing little to no defense. Who knows, he could become the Stephon Marbury of SG's, without the crazyness)
11. Kevin Martin (Slowly becoming on hell of a scorer and shooter. He's still under the radar.)
12. Jason Richardson (As good as Stephen Jackson has gotten, I think Jason Richardson still edges out Jackson on talent)
13. Kevin Durant (He gets the nod here based on potentail and the fact that he played SG every game last season. I'm surprised CBS did not have him on the list.)
14. Stephen Jackson
15. Jason Terry (He's a 6'2 SG who can handle a little bit of point. Shoots very good percentages. His size hurts his ranking)
16. Ben Gordon (He has less handle than Terry and can't play point like Terry can. Has streaks of being a lights out shooter, but Terry still has more all-around talent than Gordon).
17. Jamal Crawford
18. J.R. Smith

Then there is guys like Mike Dunleavy Jr. and Mike Miller. Are they SF's or SG's? Miller was not on the top 20 while Dunleavy Jr. was, but I see Miller as more of a 2-guard than Dunleavy. Miller last season for Memphis played SG the entire year while Rudy Gay was the SF. Dunleavy Jr. only played SG because Granger is the SF in Indiana and SG was the only spot available for Dunleavy Jr. to start at without coming off the bench.

If Mike Miller is considered a 2-guard, I would place him right between Stephen Jackson and Jason Terry on the list. If Mike Dunleavy Jr. is considered a 2-guard, I would place him right between Ben Gordon and Jamal Crawford.

To me, Allen Iverson is a point guard so he does not make this list. Peja Stojakovic is a SF, not a SG. Randy Foye is a PG, not a SG.

Salary considerations and age considerations aside, I would probably take any of those players over Jamal Crawford if I was trying to win games.

Thats a horrible list too. Half of the players mentioned aren't even shooting guards.

have to disagree with some of these selection being ahead of Jamal.
I would take Jamal over Ben Gordon (even bigger shoot first mentality than Jamal while Jamal a better passer & team player)
B. Gordon
J. Terry
Mike Dunleavy
Hell I'd even take him over Michael Redd

That list is terrible, they consider Iverson a SG and put him at number 9? He is still a top 5 SG if thats where you want to put him. Where is Arenas? Is he a PG? If thats the case then who is the starting SG for Washington?

Its to early to say who the top 20 SGs are going to be this season but based on talent and projected growth it, in my opinion, looks like this.

1. Kobe Bryant - Clearly the best SG, top 2 player in the league.
2. Dwayne Wade - I always thought he was a little to cocky, and got some BS calls which made me dislike him, but I would like to see him back to his old form, if he werent wearing a Heat jersey I would probably like him more.
3. Tracy McGrady - No excuses this season, he has the most talented roster 1-10 in the league with 3 all stars (including him) and one of the top glue guys in the game (Battier)
4. Joe Johnson - He has a complete game, and he can play anywhere from the 1 to the 4, LeBron James lite with a little better shot and worse finishing skills.
5. Gilbert Arenas - Hes a nasty scorer and shooter, I wish he had been healthy last year and now this year but he is more one dimensional then the players above him.
6. Manu Ginobili
7. Brandon Roy
8. Vince Carter
9. Kevin Martin
10. Richard Hamilton
11. Michael Redd
12. Ray Allen
13. Stephen Jackson
14. Jason Richardson
15. Kevin Durant
16. Jamal Crawford
17. Mike Miller
18. Mike Dunleavy Jr.
19. Ben Gordon
20. OJ Mayo (I think he will put up good numbers, and after the top 19 I think the next spot is really up for grabs.

CBS sports has a pretty bad list in my opinion.

Mike D'Antoni is not Isiah Thomas and lets just hope that Crawford doesn't pull one of those crappy shots that he had last season with Mike D'Antoni cause if he does, Mike will not hesitate to bench his @ssss.

Put it this way-- you can debate the order of the ones before 15, but he's not above those guys.

Everyone under here, is debatable, esp. since I don't consider any of these guys TRUE SG's. Well, neither is JC...
