McCain asks who IS Barack Obama, audience replies terrorist

McCain looked surprised & didn't know how to react. See, this is why McCain needs to have his surrogates go in this direction (if they must use this) & not him. We all know who this "Barack Obama, who is he?" line of attack is geared directly towards those who have a problem with race but no one says it out loud & if they do then they are charged with & dismissed as "part of the leftwing media machine". But when an avid McCain supporter at a McCain rally screams Barack Obama is a terrorist while some luagh & cheer how does the McCain camp spin this? Was this simply a lone voter acting out or someone whose views represent a substantial McCain voting demographic?

Who's John McCain?

He's the guy who helped Keating cheat 21,000 people, mostly senior citizens, out of their homes in the 80s. McCain had close ties to Keating -- including trying to protect Keating's scam by opposing reform and regulation on the S&L market.

McCain flat out admits wrong doing but insists he did nothing technically illegal.

That's great footage because it makes explicit the thinly veiled implicit allegations that McCain's ad campaign is making. It's clear that the "who is Barack Obama" ads are attempting to associate Obama with terrorists.

IMO this is a last-ditch effort that relinquishes any remaining dignity that McCain may have had. This campaign has turned into "Vote for me because my opponent might be a terrorist." That's the kind of pathetic fear-mongering that politicians have been using to win elections, but in this case, I think he's too late.

I am under no disillusions about the high-levels of inherent racism and xenophobia that underly much of the Republican base; but I am highly doubtful that McCain will be able to persuade independent voters that they should vote for him because his opponent might be a terrorist.

The sad part about this is that most people that are voting for McCain is just doing it because they dont like Obama. They would welcome rises in tax, increase sales prices on gas, robbing the poor to give to the rich........Damnnnnn just because they are afraid of a change, a change that will benefit you and me, i wasnt born rich, i know how it feels to go to sleep hungry, do you? if you are not rich......trust me in time you will feel what i did as a kid, a world only the rich could live in, there is no such thing as poor............in time you will see.

The big problem McCain has is any of his attacks on Obama look increasingly desperate and erratic. McCain's favorability numbers are tanking, hard. His numbers on issues, including the economy and even foreign affairs are tanking. People are fundamentally losing faith in John McCain. When that happens it's very hard for a candidate to dig themselves out of the hole. No one believes what you're saying anymore.

"It is worth noting that Obama’s lead is now bigger than any lead enjoyed at any point by either candidate in Election 2004."

McCain has been a great senator. He should stay a senator. He does not have executive potential. This is some messed up stuff. Both sides are just running terribly dirty campaigns. It is disheartening to see both campaigns have to distract people with this stuff instead of talking about actual issues. If issues were discussed maybe people would see the only real differences between the two are their verbiage.

What has Obama done to have his campaign be classified as terribly dirty?

the great irony is that McCain asks "who is Barak Obama" and some people yell "a terrorist" and he follows by saying "if you ask that you just get a barrage of insults"

how incredibly ironic!!

My parents are hard-core Republicans voting for the McCain/Palin ticket and they're trying to convince me to vote against Obama for the main reason, that he's a terrorist. If people think this is just a joke, well, it's not. How sad is that? I asked my parents why they think he's a terrorist, they replied with, "He's a muslim, you can't trust what he might do." That's what my dad gets for tuning in to Bill O'Reilly's No Spin Zone. Nothing I say or do will change their views.

What has Obama done to have his campaign be classified as terribly dirty?

his ads that have aired in spanish
mocking McCain's age
mocking Palin for being a mayor
accusing Bill Clinton of being a racist when all he did was state a fact
mocking McCain for not being able to use a computer becuase his arms don't work
using procedural votes in statistics to state that McCain votes with Bush 90% of the time

attacking McCain for being old is the same thing as attacking Obama for being african american. Both of those physical traits are out of their own control. Just because you like Obama doesn't mean he has been running a campaign that has been almost as dirty as McCain's. The real problem is the 527 orgs. Moveon.org is pathetic, and I have yet to see any GOP 527s but I am sure they will be outrageous when they come.
