The max salary for a 7 year pro (LeBron, Wade, Bosh ect.) is 30% of the cap. $18M given a $60M cap.

Thanks and I am glad that the new administration is patient and has listened to the fans for a change. I can watch a bad team for 2 years if I know that we are working towards a goal. No more quick fixes for the Knicks. Let's go for the best NBA players that there are.

You got it.

Walsh was just waiting to see how we would play.

We better pray Chandler's knee holds up.

The knicks are a great franchise in the (probably) best city in the world. They deserve to compete again, I hope you get what you want.

It's funny, all this random support for the Knicks reminds me of how everyone supported the Yankees after 9/11. Not that the Knicks sucking is comparable to 9/11, it's just funny that the response elicited is similar; teams that are so used to being hatted on, getting support on a national level.

OLD Knicks? The OLD Knicks had Oakley, Ewing, Starks, Mason, and Ward. That was the transition Knicks, right before they wen down the tubes.

Uhm, that team also made a Finals run (Camby, Spree, Houston, etc.)... '99-'00 was as enjoyable a season to watch as any...

I'm actually not opposed to the idea of keeping Randolph if we can get rid of everything else. That way we can sign a free agent to play alongside Randolph, then the next year, sign 1-2 FA's to play alongside our grown rookies and the 2010 FA.

Yes, that's what I've been saying. Especially if we want to entice LBJ. We still need to have a good team.

After shedding JC, we just need to get rid of Curry. We probably have to do it by pairing him with Lee, so no extension for Lee either. We just need to extend Nate for a reasonable amount, and we'd still have some decent space in '10, even with Z-Bo.

The Old Knicks for me were:
Ewing/Dudley
Camby/K.Thomas
LJ/Spree
Houston/Spree
Ward/Childs

but after looking at it, a old knicks team doesnt sound right with Starks, Oakley even Mason, but your list didnt sound right without the other guys that I added. Unfortunately those old Knick teams will never come back, we had a team that teams feared to play because of our toughness, and execution somthing, and most importantly Defense. Our team is never going to be a great defensive team under D'Antoni but they will be a fantastic offensive team both in an up tempo system and half court. We will be the New Knicks which is fine by me, as long as it hurries, this sucky knicks era has sucked.

I mean who couldnt be excited for a possible lineup of:
Nash/Robinson
James/Robinson
Gallinari/Chandler
Chandler/Lee
Bosh/Lee

Then you add in DeRozan, Jennings, Rubio, Thabeet, Henderson, Budinger, Curry and players declining/players wanting to win a ring piggy backing on our team to make us deeper and stronger, the possibilities are dangerous.
Go Knicks!

The hoops hype number of 18 million is flawed because, I think, they ignore all the team options. Obviously this team isn't going to cut Chandler, and they probably aren't going to cut Gallinari, so the 18 million figure is just Curry & Jeffries.

Here's my best guess as the real 2010 salary:

Curry 11.3 (but curry may be tradable - get him in the lineup, have him put up some good numbers)
Jeffries 6.9
Gallinari 3.3
Chandler 2.1
2001 Pick (depends, but lets say 2.5 as an estimate - Gallo got 2.8)

That's an estimated guarantee of 26.1 in Salaries

Add Lee, Nate, (resign Duhon?), resign Al Harrington if he fits? - there's still room for 1 max player, and curry as I said above is probably tradable, so there might be room for more.

The really cool news is that today means we can sign 1 max player, and Bron to NY is possible. But the 18 million salary number is overstated, but as pointed out 30% of the cap, we just need to be 18 million under to offer Bron a max and we've made that.

It's also, a great year to tank. We could really use a nice draft pick in 2009.
