Duhon As An All-star?

Post#1 » by ladyknick8 » Mon Dec 8, 2008 11:53 pm

Does anyone think that Duhon's play (minutes, scoring and assists) this year is worthy of an all-star visit? Maybe I'm biased, or I'm looking at his game as it applies to the Knicks not over all league play, but I think he deserves a nod. I don't know how you guys breakdown the stats, but please enlighten me...What do you guys think?

if he can get his apg above Calderon's then he might get in. The problem is that Iverson will probably win the fan vote for PG, then you have to have Devon Harris on the team, and I don't know how many PGs make the roster.

There is alot of Different players that could be mentioned as a reserve , i think he's second to Calderon in Assist but honestly if he Boost his numbers up by acouple and maybe gets us acouple more victories , then i say he could be a all star. He's having a good beginning to December i just hope him and david lee can connect often, and he creates his own shot throughout the game he has 4 double doubles, im pulling for him =]

I don't think he scores enough, which is fine by me, but idiots like points with their all stars. I think we had a discussion last year about calderon making an all star game, but he didn't have the points. regardless if duhon did have the points, We would have to be .500 for him to get real consideration

Yeah most idiots also prefer for the starting lineup in the allstar game to have a combined average of over 28 points a game.

Duhon has exceeded everyone's expectations this year. So much so that it's now a real possibility that he is resigned at the end of his contract and kept as the PG of this team, which is a possibility nobody, including myself, was willing to entertain when he was brought in. However, he just doesn't have what it takes to be an all-star. Guys like Devin Harris and Iverson will always have more of an impact on a game, scoring numbers or not.

Iverson and Wade voted in as starters

Ray Allen
Devin Harris
Joe Johnson
Rip Hamilton
Jose Calderon

would all get the nod over Duhon.

For those who don't know how the reserve voting works, each coach selects 2 guards, 2 forwards, 1 center, and 2 other players. So you really can't have more than 6 guards on the team.

If he is scoring and dishing 8 assist duhon would def be an all star, not a starter cause he will never beat out AI, but coaches def take notice note Don Nelson saying he was looking nash like.

question?

Does anyone think that AI doesn't deserve a nod this year, 17 5 and 3,

Derrick rose, and Devin Harris have better numbers than him and so does Wade, on top of that the pistons haven't been the same since he got there. The bulls have the same record as us, Nets and Pistons and heat all have similar records, I say I would let AI sit this one out.

Edit: I Know its still to early to tell, but just curious to see.

I was also thinking to my self. If mike Bibby and Rajon Rondo are up there then maybe duhon should get some recognition. He might be in the skills competition though.

Bibby and Rondo won't make it either.

it is going to be tough, because duhon is not the flashy type PG and his numbers will have to be so eye popping to get him the necessary votes or even the coach's vote. I would not count on it..

And good to see you around lady knick. where have you been?

Maybe. If we don't run him into the ground first.

But disagree with TKF, I think he's exactly the type of guard that does get the coaches' attention.

They talk; they talk.

I think I have to disagree with your list.

After the two guards the fans select, it's coach voting, and the coaches probably will pick at least 1 pure point.

Derrick Rose doesn't have a better shot than Duhon because he's a rookie.

I agree with you on Devin & Jose Calderon. Those guys are almost certainly ahead of Duhon right now.

Bibby & Mo Williams? I'm not so sure.

Duhon's got a shot if me reaches some magical milestones - such as:

10 APG - which is unlikely.

Knicks win a few games and are 2nd in their division come the allstar break - and that's not out of the question. I wouldn't bet on it, but after boston, #2 in this division is all about who gets hot.

Right now - no. Calderon/Devin are clearly is the coaches' pick(s) - one of both those guys would get in now. But it's possible duhon gets in depending on how things' go, and perhaps if some players miss the allstar game due to injuries, etc. That's how Oakley got in that one year.

Right now - no way. Come the allstar break - maybe. But it's a long shot.

He's right. Duhon an all-star is hilarious. Malik Rose should be traded for LeBron pronto! Cavs would be stupid to not accept!
