Duhon's Defense is Overrated.

its simple, he is an average defender, better than most people on the knicks, but when you have PF and Centers who cant play D for crap, u have to play off the defender so they dont get past you. Every coach states that defense starts up front and not to let your man get past you. (knicks coaches preach this becaue of their horrific interior D, namely curry, Lee. So what else is the guards supposed to do but play a little off their defender.

If you have a good defensive presence in the front court, then you can definatly play tight D.

What i would of done, is put al harrington, wilson chandlder, or Jarred jeffries on the ball handler on the last play, so it would of been tougher to make the shot.

That's my point. He is a decent defender not the defensive specialist that people make him out to be.

You can't expect a guy who plays as many minutes as Duhon is forced to play to have much left in the tank to play defense, especially at the ends of games - and especially at the pace that D'Antoni wants him to play at.

The thing is we have had guards before that have long in just as many minutes as Duhon. Neither Marbury or Jamal got a free pass and they were asked to score, and try to play defense.

I can't wait for this thread similar to this to be made if Lebron comes to town. He is not that great of defender, but he makes so many highlight blocks on guards that it makes him look good on D. Your complaining about the guy duhon who has played good D all year, but when a scrub Jack hits a big shot Duhon's defense becomes overrated unbelievable.

Did you read anything? Like I said this was not made base on one shot by Jack. This is my assessment of me watching Duhon night in and night out. I have enough clips of me watching Duhon for me to come up with that conclusion. People have said his defense was above average and top 3 in the league with defense.

Also what does Lebron have to do with it? Lebron is known for his offense. Duhon is known for his defense. If the Knicks get Lebron and he is suppose to be a top scorer and he drops 15 points a game you better believe there will be a thread.

Again why are we talking about Lebron?
