I was thinking the same, too. That whole medical situation was very suspicious.

This is what I thought would happen.

If you remember the series of events.

Knicks / Clippers talk Zach for Timmy and Mobley trade.

Trade is put on hold when Knicks discover Mobley's condition.

Trade goes through with the Knicks fully aware of Mobley's condition.

Knicks refuse to let Mobley play with a waiver, Mobley retires.

Knicks knew about the condition before signing off on the trade, so the DPE does not apply.

what doesn't make sense is why the league needed a month to decide what I knew they were going to decide anyway. Maybe they needed to have meetings on it / discuss it, what not, but I thought the outcome of no DPE was obvious from day one. I wanted one, but I never believed it would happen.

Jerome might still get us a DPE, because that's a real injury. I'm not sure how it applies to 12th men, but a Jerome DPE seems reasonable.

The good news is:

ROSTER SPOT IS NOW OPEN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Slightly off-topic, but since a potential lockout was metioned I have to say. If there is a NBA lockout with the way the economy is right now, people losing jobs, small businesses struggling hard, the league can officially count me out. I :x

A lockout during this recession would hurt. I never went back to Hockey after its lockout.

Well, there is one bright side.

We can still trade his contract, and it will become yet another expiring next year.

Q, Al, TT, Mobley, and James will be expirings next year, which we could convert into draft picks.

Oh yeah, if there gonna argue over millions and millions while the average person struggles, they officially, as a league, don't "get it"!!!

Knicks will never get a break from the league. Fine, let them complain about being so behind to the NFL, MLB and Nascar in popularity. Bunch of jerks.

It would have been fair for the Clippers to agree to give us some future special consideration if we did not get the DPE. They definitely got over us, but hey, not the end of the world. Our team is still better than theirs. Now I am definitely a Clipper hater and Dunleavy hater.

Stern screwed us over good, if any Knicks fans catch him on the street? He might want to have on his Air Jordan's and run like hell.

Are people forgetting what happened? Mobley failed his physical, Walsh had the option of undoing the trade, but went through with the trade anyway (right move obviously, no complaints). Of course the NBA isn't going to grant a DPE.

You're on a date and the date says "I will do you, but I have a STD." You agree to screw her. So now you're screwed.

We actually do need all these expirings, err, to expire in order to get max players for 2010.
