OT: TMobile G1 or Blackberry 8900

Yeah. I'm on tmobile (obviously) and I want to upgrade my phone (currently BB Pearl). Which is the better phone?

I just got the Blackberry Curve (8900) and it is a lot better than the Pearl. The Pearl had some sort of design flaw that made it crash way too often, especially if you don't buy extra memory for it. Also, it is much easier to send texts on the Curve (the Pearl's keypad is a pain in the ass) and I can surf the net much easier. Eventually I will upgrade to the Storm but it seems like they are still working out the bugs on that.

I think the curve is probably better for business (mainly email/exchange) but the g1 is probably more fun for personal use (apps etc.). one thing about the curve though is that it doesn't have 3g data access so internet browsing will likely be slow unless you're near a wifi signal. the g1 is the first phone to use the android os though and there might be new 'android phones' coming out later in the year. probably the best bet is to try them out at the store though.

I just got a pearl two weeks ago and I hate it, so I switched and my new LG voyager just came in the mail. I like it a lot better.. I don't like or have much need for the blackberry package....

Anyone know how good music listening is on either phone? I check my email, text, speak a lot and listen to music on the phone.

The curve is the best all around phone out right now. Except for the Bold. But thats ATT exclusive. I can double check with my bro, but he listens to music on his all the time, so i doubt the sound quality is subpar. The curve has the best size, durability and is perfect what you like to do. I would go with it personally.

I think the music player is pretty good on the g1 but for some reason they didn't include a standard headphone jack so you either have to use the included headphones or get an adapter if you want to use your own. the jack is also on the bottom which could be annoying. but overall it looks good imo.

The guy in the Verizon store said that the music quality is just as good on the Curve as it would be on an Ipod and you can get headphones for it. I haven't listened to music on it myself, though- I am not that technologically advanced :)
