Dallas Mavericks reject trade offer from LAC . WOW!

Post#1 » by jassous » Fri Feb 13, 2009 4:55 pm

They rejected a Jason Kidd/Stackhouse for BDiddy/Kaman

Why would they reject such a trade? They would be immediate contenders. Yeah I know the salaries are big, but to take a title?

Davis
Terry(when healthy)
Josh Howard
Dirk
Kaman

Chris Kaman is pointless to have on a team when you don't force-feed him the ball. Think if Eddy Curry was actually good. Same type of mindset. And Baron Davis is irrelevant now that he got his big contract.

I think with Dirk taking a lot of attention on the perimeter, Kaman would have a field day in the paint.

Have U seen how long Kaman and Davis Contracts are? And have you seen how many games they have missed due to injury?

plus this deal would take Dallas out of the 2010 and 2011 running. Being a team from Texas, and since Bosh is from Texas, you would think they would think they could get him. Plus there is no income tax in texas.

Baron is totally overrated and misses a lot of games but when hes on a team thats doing well he actually applies himself and can be unstoppable almost.

Kamen is far from useless without being force fed the ball. in fact hes a solid rebounding and defending big so Id say thats useful.

Ill bet that the reason for the rejection is in part financial, in part because they will have Kamen and Dampier taking so much cap and in part because Cuban doesnt want to admit mistake and give up on Kidd so soon.

Plus Dal is playing pretty solid ball right now. ANd if they dont resign Kidd they will be in good shape in 2010

Why would they reject such a trade?

1) Salaries :
Baron Davis + Chris Kaman = 5/4 years and $108,400,000 left on their contracts
Jason Kidd + Jerry Stackhouse = expiring contracts and only $28,372,000 left on their deals.

2) Baron Davis is good but not worth his contract, he ain't better than Kidd for the Mavs at this point. Kaman is injury prone and I wouldn't invest that much money in him. I don'tthink the Mavs need any of those players. On another hand, with Camby, Zach and DeAndre Jordan, the Clips need to get rid of one of their bigs and it would be a coup to get rid of two albatross contracts like that. Clips need to trim payroll.

This deal is obviously lopsided in favor of the Clips. They get Kidd (a good PG and an expiring contract) who could make Zach Randolph a good investment for them and a SG.

and really, baron davis has been a dog player for years... That stupid three he took at the end of the game vs the knicks is the very reason why coaches have problems with him, he made the shot, but how many times does that shot not fall.. Baron is not a quality player.... Injury prone, weight problems, big contract, streaky player.....

Dallas does NOT need Baron Davis.

I wouldnt mind getting Baron Davis.

I'd trade Curry and Jefferies for ANYTHING.

Davis in this system is not to be taken lightly.

If they want Curry and Jefferies then I say we get in on that.

Don't forget bad teammate and general non-winner.

His rap was he'll mail it it when he's the least bit unhappy. This year is indicative of that. Why do you want to be on the hook for 4-5 yrs of his crap.

Oh this was another rumor I mentioned on this board initially but didn't provide a generic Hoopshype link but I guess it's ok to discuss now. You know guys links don't always have to be provided if it's just rumor talk. IMO links should be provided if it really looks like a trade has gone down or is going down. Other than that discussing potential transactions bordering more on possibilities is no different than someone bringing their trade idea to the board and discussing it.
