Well the Celts still have a good record and are a favorite to win again so perhaps his impact goes beyond his numbers.

Did anybody actually think he was going to put up 20 / 8?

He could be averaging 5 and 3 and it would be acceptable if he wasn't shooting 28% and 17%. Those are not the numbers of a professional basketball player, sorry.

Starbury is a complete waste of talent and roster space.

Starbs' numbers are so bad that he's hired Quentin Richardson to come up to Beantown and be his personal shooting coach.

This is preseason for Marbury in that he's just getting in game shape. He's shot the ball 59 times in thirteen games after a year layoff. The percentage is meaningless until he gets his legs back. No one's complaining about him; everyone is content with his progress.

The worry on Marbury was not his talent, but his attitude. His attitude's been great.
People said that he'd be ball hogging. Instead he's been deferring too much.
People said he'd be undermining Rondo. The reverse is true.
They said he wouldn't play defense. He is.

Marbury's been a good back up point as far as maintaining the tempo. His passing has been coming along. His shot isn't there yet but he's taking very few.

Marbury will be fine. He's coming along at the same pace PJ Brown did last season when he returned from a long absence. PJ didn't give the Celtics anything in the regular season but was great in the playoffs. Marbury is younger and has a few weeks more to work with. By playoffs he'll be very productive.

This is possibly Marbs' last season in the league.

His career is pretty close to coming to an end the way Francis's did.

I don't even know why they're giving him those minutes, House fills that role so much better.

Wiretap:
"After perusing his recent statistics Starbury has decided to fire Joakim Noah as his shooting coach and move on to Quentin Richardson, his former teammate with the Knicks. The two have made peace in recent weeks and have discussed personal b-ball philosophies. Marbury has decided to add Q's mantra of "just keep shooting" to his own mantra of "Get closer God...buy Starbury's...**** Eddie House" in order to improve his game on the court.

House is vulnerable to the press and the tempo slows when he runs the offense. The tempo is better maintained when Marbury is in the game.

House is really a small off guard. He and Marbury have developed good chemistry. (As a pair they're small and that's a problem defensively sometimes, but that's a separate issue and something that the Celtics have to deal with while Tony Allen is out.)

House is less productive at point and better off the ball.

Considering all past Knick trades including all past Knick draft picks, I'd rate Marbury at the all time #1 Bust.
