Austin has 4 rebounds total against Lehigh. He is gonna have to do better than that if he wants to be an NBA starting big.

Shabazz Muhammad has been ruled ineligible for amateur rules violations.
Muhammad, a freshman at UCLA and a consensus top-two recruit in the class, has no timetable in terms of the length of the suspension.
UCLA will appeal the suspension.

I hope he gets to play because I don't want to be on the clock next summer and having to make a call on him without watching him play against his peers.

BTW, it just hit me that the reason why I don't like Shabazz is because he reminds me of OJ Mayo. That's not horrible, it's just not what I would want from a top 3 pick. I think his stock will drop if he doesn't play.

McAdoo will go before Shabazz in the draft. Book it.

Re: Official Draft Thread: Prospects Watch
Alex Len of Maryland has 20 and 11 against Noel. Noel is just getting pushed around in the paint. Has 4 points an 7 boards so far.

OJ Mayo is in a good situation now and is flourishing as a player FWIW

I think if you put McGee back then, he would get those blocks just as easily as Russell did. Russell's athleticism was well ahead of the players of his time, and that's about it.

Re: Official Draft Thread: Prospects Watch
I watched the Pitt game and the Maryland-Kentucky game last night. Pitt played a real weak opponent and Steven Adams wasnt all that impressive. On defense and rebounding he is long and strong. But he seemed lost at times and on offense made no initiative (offense never ran through him though) to get going. All his points were off others penetration or rebounds.
As for the UK-UM game. I was real dissapointed in Noel. I want to draft a project big this year so we still do bad next year to tank for wiggins. And i think vooch teamed up with a defensive athletic big can be a great combo (a la gasol/bynum of last year). But to me Noel looks like an athlete but not much else. He went for every block and left his man wide open for rebounds or dropoffs. He also got pushed around often when defending len. Depending on where we finish the year though Len looks like he can be good. I was also impressed with Cauley-Stein but not a high lottery pick in my opinion
Anyone else feel the same or different?

yeah, i've been keeping tabs on Mayo this season. i've always thought he was the kind of player who will step up when given a significan enough role - and that's exactly what he's doing.
he's not a franchise player, but he could defintely be a Jason Terry style difference maker on the offensive end.

Draft express has their prospect rankings up, but excludes incoming freshman.
one player that could make a jump this year is Florida C/PF Patric Young

If he makes a jump this year he'd be a great fit here. he's an elite athlete, has an NBA body already

Can't wait for college bball this year. I normally never follow it till the end but since we are tanking I figured now would be a great time to pick it up!!

As a Florida fan, I'd stay away from Pat in the lottery. He's going to be a work in progress on offense. Can't shoot, struggles at the line, but can finish around the basket. Hasn't grown a whole lot in 3 years offensively. But he can be a defensive monster.

Whoever drafts McAdoo before Shabazz will regrets it. McAdoo is a big that shoots 43%, that's absolutely horrible. Shabazz will be 10x the player.

Am I the only one that does not like Cody Zeller? In my opinion his T-rex arms will never allow him to be good defensively. Noel also looked terrible.
Smart / Micic / D. Wright
Wiggins / Exum / J. Adams
Parker / K. Anderson / Mcdermott
Randle / Vonleh / Stokes
Embiid / Nurkic/ Tavares

I don't think Zeller will ever be a defensive stopper, or even necessarily that he will ever be a "good" defender, but that doesn't mean he can't be a sick basketball player. I think some of the LMA comparisons are not far off. Granted, I'm biased as an IU student, but Cody Zeller is EVERYWHERE on the court, especially offensively. Put Zeller next to a defensive big, and you're set.

but if we keep vucci long term, well hes not a defensive big. I like zellar more then noel but if i had to pick 1 to pair with vucci id pick noel just cause hes the polar opposite of vucci and would help sure up our paint defense kind of like a tyson chandler. and if were lucky he develops some sort of offensive game
