This is interesting

Also, .500 puts us at 45 wins for the year

That wouldve been 6 seed last year

I think our goal should be 51 wins (4th seed last year).

That'd be a ~59% win. If we get through this tough December schedule with a .500 record for the month, I think its doable. I definitely see a few more win streaks in the schedule in the second half of the season.

I'd like to see some commentary on home vs. away splits. A lot of players shoot and play better at home and we just had 6 home games in a row. It might be goosing some of our stats a bit.

3rd in forcing TOs.
The Magic arent going to be a good 3pt shooting team, but one thing I really want to see is them shooting a better 3pt % than their opponents. We're not there yet. Magic are shooting 32.4%, opponents shoot 33.7%.

Getting close.. Magic are now shooting 35.4%, opponents shooting 36%

Orlando is currently on a +6.0 scoring differential. That equated to a >50-game win rate.

Orlando is currently:
14th in ppg
8th in FG%
4th in made FTs per game
11th in offensive rpg
3rd in steals per game
11th in bpg

Really the only "damaging" stats for Orlando:
this is still a high TO team at 26th in the league and a high foul rate also at 26th in the league.

There are some other negative stats for Orl, but it doesnt matter because the important one is wins and losses.

Great time to be a Magic fan folks.

#3 Anthony and #4 M-Wagner nearly averaging 30 ppg summed between them Wow that's awesome also.

I find it interesting that based on EPM, Goga is our second-best player behind Suggs.

From there it gets more normal, with Franz 3rd and Paolo 4th.

The plus-positive players:

Anthony
Suggs/G-Harris
F-Wagner/Ingles
Banchero/Isaac
Bitadze/M-Wagner

Noting that Fultz and Carter aren't on that list (and I am a defender of both), the above looks a lot like an NBA-depth chart to me, and a chart lacking only a starting PG to be a title contender.

Is Orlando really that close to being "real".

Its been 80 games since our **** 5-20 start last season. In those 80 games, we are now 45-35, 2 more games and we get an 82 game sample size or what is the equivalent of a full season.

We are on pace for 57 wins which is elite status. Now given the youth and still iffy 3pt shooting, we are probably not going be able to keep that pace up but now I have moved the goal post to a goal of 50 wins based on the first 23 games. So we need 34 wins in the remaining 59 games to get there, so a record of 34-25 the rest of the way would get us that, that's a 57.6% win rate the rest of the way vs the 69.5% current. Doable? I think its a doable. If we play .500 the rest of the way that gets us 45/46 wins but I think we can do better than that.

The other stat is our net rating which has been consistently around 5th for several weeks now.

The last time the Magic was this good was 2011-12.

As of today, we have 4 players in the top 100 by EPM for the first time.

And EPM measures performance, not potential. So, given all 4 players (Suggs, Bitadze, Wagner and Banchero) are on steep upward improvement trajectories, we really are set fair.

4 in the top 100 performing players after 25% of the season puts ORL right up there with the top teams.

Selected teams:

6 in top 100: LAC
5 in top 100: MIN
4 in top 100: ORL, BOS, OKC, BKN
3 in top 100: DEN, LAL, PHI, MIL, DAL, SAC
2 in top 100: PHX

It sucks that you have to pay to see EPM.

You don't have to pay for the generic stats. If you want tonfilter or Interrogate the data it makes you pay for the sub.
