Kind of OT: Russell Westbrook ... trading block?

Westbrook, Durant Have To Be Separated After Altercation

Russell Westbrook's frustration appeared to have started with just 3 1/2 minutes remaining in the second quarter when he drove into the paint and kicked the ball out to Thabo Sefolosha in the corner. Sefolosha passed up a wide open 3-pointer, which prompted Westbrook to yell at Sefolosha “shoot the (expletive) ball.”

Sefolosha and other teammates, including Kevin Durant and center Kendrick Perkins attempted to calm Westbrook down immediately during an ensuing trip to the free throw line. But the emotions spilled over to the bench one minute later.

Durant appeared to again settle Westbrook, but Westbrook appeared to take exception to how Durant delivered his message. The two began shouting at each other and had to be separated.

I watched that OKC/Memphis game last night. I heard Westbrook yell at Sefolosha, and then Durant get in to it with Westbrook. Westbrook went 0 for 13, 4pts. Late in the game Westbrook came off of high screens and took some forced shots, which kept Memphis in the game (they leaked out fast breaks off the miss). Westbrook and Durant obviously aren't connecting on the court. It looks to be a distraction. Westbrook wants to be the main scorer and creator on the floor, he ignores Durant WHEN Durant is on a hot streak. The same thing happened last season in the playoffs... NOW... with that all said... I'm a huge fan of Russell Westbrook... he's a dynamic athlete and scorer with crazy speed... do you think Westbrook would enjoy being the #1 scorer and creator on a team that needs one badly... such as Orlando?... Can Orlando can pull off a deal to acquire Westbrook (with a 3rd or 4th team involved obviously)? No disrespect to Steve Francis and Rashard Lewis, but Westbrook would be the best player Dwight has has played with, and Westbrook (as a PG) would be playing with the most dominant big man in the league (call us Lob City 2.0). I'm sure Howard would be happy with having this kid at PG, who has the mentality to take over games when we need the scoring and creating. Just an interesting discussion to think about.

I know Houston was looking to move Martin/Scola, Memphis had talks of moving Mayo, Utah with moving Jefferson/Millsap, and GSW with Monta... so there are 3rd or 4th team pieces out there to get creative with... Obviously this would require Nelson, Anderson, another vet, and maybe one of our rookies being involved... or picks

Another opportunity like there have been so many (Melo, CP, Iggy, Ellis, Smoove)

But Otis Smith could never get anything like this done .. If our GM was named Danny Ainge, Sam Presti or Pat Riley; we could get it done ..

But not Otis "I <3 to overpay" Smith

if he is really that selfish, is it really a good idea to get him? i mean, i always hated on those kind of selfish players. i'm afraid i'm overreacting to this article, but it is a important matter.

this reminds me of A.I..... lol

I just dont see anyway we could get him with what we have, Hell we cant even pull off a monta deal let alone a stud top 5 pg in the league on a rookie contract, absolutely not a chance.

I think it's a maturity issue... he's really young and still impressionable... and I think he's jealous (or envious) of Durant... he obviously wants to be the main scorer on the perimeter and off the dribble... I would welcome that on our team... Dwight is the main scorer on the low block and cleaning off the glass... perfect pick n roll combo... I think if you take Westbrook off of OKC and away from Durant, his play won't be as erratic to try and outshine Durant... he wants to be the main scorer and distributor obviously, and that's never going to happen in OKC because they have Durant... but it can happen in Orlando imo

But as some of you guys have mentioned... it might be impossible to pull that trade off

I don't think this issue is about being selfish. He was angry cause he created an OPEN SHOT for a teammate who didn't shoot the ball. If he got pissed he wasn't getting the ball enough or getting enough shots then I would think he was being selfish. However, this is the same thing Kobe does when one of his teammates passes up an open shot he feels they should take. I know there has been talk of whether or not Westbrook and durant can coexist on the same team because they both dominate the ball, but I don't hear Westbrook ever complaining. Instead it is the media that bring this up as a potential problem. I think if we could get him it would be awesome. But, as others have said, we just don't have the assets to get him unless it was for Dwight which is not something I want to happen.

I was telling a friend last night that if the Magic trade Dwight/Turk to L.A. for Bynum/Gasol, that we should then flip Bynum/Jameer and a 2nd to OKC for Westbrook/Perkins/Sefolosha/Collison. We would probably have to waive Larry Hughes in order to make room for Sefolosha.

Westbrook/Duhon
Redick/Sefolosha/Wafer/Liggins
JRich/Q/Earl
Gasol/Ryno/Collison/Harper
Perkins/Baby/Orton

All in all, I don't think it'd be a bad deal for either team.

Jameer/Harden/Durant/Ibaka/Bynum is a pretty talented starting 5 and def makes OKC more balanced than before.

Westbrook may not be a 1st pass PG but anythin is better than the crap Jameer nelson is. OKC will never play Nelson. The only balance he brings is the balance to fail. Westbrook for Dwight. Dwight is desperately trying to leave so better trade him for something.

Sounds like there is a power struggle between Durant and Westbrook caused by Westbrook's stronger attitude being pushed aside due to Durant's better talents.

I'd actually trade Dwight for Westbrook straight up. Dwight is a fool to say no to that trade. Granted i'd trade Jameer and try and exchange 1 or 2 more players to even the rosters out. But there is no way IMO Dwight should turn down a chance to play with Harden + Durant. Those two are better then Dwight at creating their own shots.

That trade won't work... unless OKC sends us Perkins and Harden along with Westbrook

That's why I feel if Mark Cuban doesn't attract Deron or Dwight to the Mavs this offseason, he'll throw everything at Westbrook to see what happens.

J-Rich needs to kick rocks.....Too inconsistent and virtually brings nothing to the table that Redick can't emulate

well if you read correctly you would have noticed that he said the trade won't work unless the thunder sends perkins and harden + westbrook, because the salaries will not match otherwise. it was in response to Potterman's post. DJ never said he wanted to trade dwight for perkins, harden, westbrook; and i like his avatar :) . quit being a troll. all of your posts have been complete garbage.

If I have to get rid of Dwight, taking Perk/Westbrook/Harden for Dwight/Turk or Meer is probably the best we can get.

Pull Westbrook aside and say "this is your team, we'll fill in the roster around you. You have free reign, as long as you stay supportive and ready to put in work." Then, like with any team with a sparkling PG, other talent will follow.

And Dwight/Durant would be Kobe/Shaq 2.0. He'd be a fool to badmouth that, regardless of the market in OKC.

Westbrook/Hughes
JRich/Redick
Harden/Earl
Anderson/Harper
Perkins/BBD

It ain't pretty, and we would have to address some weaknesses, but it's not terrible.

Meh. I hate you, Dwight. :-?

http://blogs.orlandosentinel.com/sports_magic/2011/12/orlando-magic-shootaround-report-van-gundy-concerned-about-nets-pace-video.html

Stan was asked about the Durant/Westbrook argument and jokingly said he thought it was very, very serious and they needed to break those two guys up immediately and get them as far apart as possible, bring one to Florida......Kevin Durant.

Just surprised me that he chose Durant over Westbrook, even though he was joking.
