Yep. Howard can't sign a max deal until his contract is up or he opts out. He can only sign an extension up to 3 years, which he won't do because he can get more money and a longer contract playing out his contract.

man this whole thing has been a circus.....first NJ and LA fans were gloating that we looked like we were going to trade Dwight.....He then says he was opting in......then a few magic fans start trolling other boards.....by dinnertime the same day Dwight says he's not opting in.......some of our fans look like fools for trolling other boards before it was official.....now we get a Dwight apology and he's opting in again? W.........T............F
