Re: Around The League
The Heat are 23rd in Def. Efficiency this year? I know we're only 12-14 games into the season, but 23rd.
Who has been watching them this year? Are they struggling on D? FYI, they had the 4th best Def. Efficiency last year. Oh and our Magic are 12th.

It is not so much that they are stuggling on Defense as they have switched up their offense to a more up tempo. Hence, there are more possessions for both teams playing. Notice all those 100 plus point games. Heat has all those scorers there now with Miller, Ray Allen, Lewis off the bench.

Someone doesn't know what "Def. Efficiency " is...
The short answer is that the starters have been fine, but Ray Allen and Rashard have been highly flammable with the second unit. Also teams murdered them from 3 in the first few weeks. Their ranking will continue to improve as the new guys adjust and Wade gets health(ier).

I don't think any coaches or players stated this. So, I think this was more media speculation. Now that Battier is injured, Lewis has actually been playing more.

To avoid this for the future, can't Pop just make up injuries for each player?

Stern is going to be busy at the end of the season when every playoff team benches their starters...

Re: Around The League
NBA is awful, it was a normal play by the Spurs, they are old and they need to rest.
BTW, D12 had his 1st 20/20 for the Lakers yesterday against the Nuggets. He is averaging only 17.9/10.5... LOL!
D12: 18/11 over 36 minutes
Vucevic: 12/10 over 36 minutes

Spurs got fined for not sending down their big guns to the Miami game, 250K for that little en-devour.

I don't remember this happening before in the NBA, but I've seen it nearly getting there in Football (real football, not american throwball) where towards the end of the season some teams get annoyed when "bad" teams rest their good players against the good teams when they expect to lose, so that when it comes to the relegation fights against the teams they feel they can or need to win against they are rested up.

"The result here is dictated by the totality of the facts in this case," said David Stern. "The Spurs decided to make four of their top players unavailable for an early-season game that was the team's only regular-season visit to Miami. The team also did this without informing the Heat, the media, or the league office in a timely way. Under these circumstances, I have concluded that the Spurs did a disservice to the league and our fans."

Re: Around The League
Stern : "Spurs did a disservice to the league and our fans".. Accusing Popovich with disservice, who has been coaching SAS -one of the legit teams in NBA- for 15 years.. I think what Popovich served to the NBA is more than what Stern had served.
