It is a debatable topic I think. However I agree with the sentiment that the speculation threads can be tough to find the latest news in.
Don't get me wrong, when I have the time I actually enjoy trawling through them reading all the banter. However I think there is nothing wrong with new threads being made with the latest news (note NEWS not SPECULATION).
As some have already said, when I am stuck for time i don't want to waste it hunting through the latest ten pages of the speculation thread.

Do you think that all new topic need to be news? I think of it as more of a place for Magic fans to bond and to talk about a range of things. Some may be news. Some speculation. Some may be off topic and about other Magic or Central FL issues. In my opinion the site does need to be organized and double topics merged or locked. If it isn't a good post then it quickly gets moved to the later pages of the forums.

This is true. Maybe 'Trade Dwight Fatigue' is starting to cloud my judgement... Or maybe I'm just a big meanie!

If anyone ever sees a thread get locked let it be known that you can appeal to the man via a PM and you will be heard. We (I, the other guys are pretty much flawless tbh) can make mistakes.

Going thru all the threads that were locked in the past week, I don't understand what the quarrel is. No offense to those who created them, but they were all either useless or redundant. I like my forums to be clean and organized. If there is really relevant news being broken or a topic of unique interest, I believe it deserves it's own thread, as it would foster discussion. But if you're just looking to vent about a topic being discussed elsewhere or proposing a suggested idea, you may just want to look for the most relevant thread. The Mods do a pretty good job here. More so than other forums.

And if you get an "IBTL" gif or pic, don't take it personally. It's all in good fun, at least from me.

Yes and no. it is a fair point that if something is not thread worthy then it will quickly fall from the front page. But it kind of goes the other way. Take trade ideas for example, if every one was made in a new thread and they were getting posted in, there would be so many that you would struggle to find threads on other topics.

You do want some kind of order IMO. A trade thread for example, you post your trade idea in there you are likely to get a response from people who enjoy discussing that kind of topic. So everybody wins

Nothing going on in the Speculation thread is truly important time sensitive stuff. Usually it's a tweet that gets posted and then 2 pages of reaction to the tweet and move on to the next. If something really important, some NEWS, not some rumor or speculation, it gets its own thread. If you don't see any new threads at the end of the day, chances are nothing really important happened and you're not going to find any updates in the speculation thread.

Yep, like I said before, when it comes to the big stuff, someone will ALWAYS make a new thread.

I like the Mods locking and hope to not see another thread created involving the Trade Dwight and/or Dwight is Leaving threads. Unless, it is based off of words spoken by a Magic Player, their Agent or an employee of the Orlando Magic.

Thank you everyone for the good feedback. I get what everyone is saying. I guess what got missed in all my rambling of that locked thread, was a question that I really wanted your feedback about. YEA, it was about Dwight. We are all looking for the silver lining. And yea, I think we all understand the IBTL thing, so that is no big deal. But finally, like I said, I am an old timer on these boards. So sorry I do not have any room left for a Ryan Anderson tattoo because the Pat Garrity tattoo gets in the way.
