He's had a lot of bad drafts.
But some good trades. Mutombo really worked out well for them.
I forgot we had Juwan Howard on our team for a little while. :D

I think he's an expert drafter. At least the last few years which is what matters. There is no high picks there but it's still full of high impact or rotation players. I'm going with Lindsey or Weaver first, let them hire a couple of their own scouts and watch our drafting go incredible overall now. We see picks like Leonard and Ibaka strengthening a title contender team too, which are not lotto picks. Not too mention their tendency to win trades, those two candidates continue to be the best choices by far.

The current reports have Orlando at the final interviews.

The Magic have narrowed their choices to three finalists: San Antonio Spurs vice president and assistant GM Dennis Lindsey and former New Orleans Hornets GM Jeff Bower are two, with former Portland Trail Blazers executive Tom Penn or Oklahoma City Thunder assistant GM Troy Weaver as the third.

Assistant GM Dave Twardzik has handled Draft scouting for the Magic.

Magic are taking their sweet time to find a GM.
Meanwhile, Charlotte is about to snap up a potentially good Coach that we might have looked at.

Don't see why people are so impressed with Pritchard...he made two good moves (Roy & Aldridge) and outside of that...they were all pretty bad.

Especially his draft record. Not a single person ended up being a good player. Some were/are decent, but nothing that is going to help put your team over the top.

As a GM, his best FA work was Andre Miller & Steve Blake (of course not counting Diener).

What is so impressive?

Penn clearly has a MUCH better resume.

O-Sen: Magic whittle list of GM finalists to Bower, Hennigan and Lindsey

The Orlando Magic have moved one step closer toward hiring a replacement for Otis Smith.

The team has whittled its list of general-manager candidates to three finalists: former New Orleans Hornets General Manager Jeff Bower, Oklahoma City Thunder Assistant GM Rob Hennigan and San Antonio Spurs Vice President/Assistant GM Dennis Lindsey.

comma, but ...
... another finalist or two still could be added to the mix ...

Who Am I?

Rob Hennigan the youngest by far out of the bunch and is in his fourth year with the Oklahoma City Thunder and his second as the team’s Assistant General Manager/Player Personnel. Hennigan spent his first two seasons with the Thunder serving as the team’s Director of College/International Player Personnel.

In his current position, Hennigan’s responsibilities include overseeing the team’s professional, college, and international scouting departments, as well as assisting GM Sam Presti with all player personnel matters and day-to-day management of basketball operations.

Now the Orlando Magic are looking for personnel from Championship experienced or at least winning background teams. so by now im sure you’re wondering how does Rob fit in to that category?

Prior to joining the Thunder, Hennigan spent five seasons with the San Antonio Spurs and was named the Director of Basketball Operations in September of 2007. He joined the Spurs as an intern during the 2004–05 season and was later named the team’s Basketball Operations Assistant in the summer of 2005.

Granted it’s a long shot that the Magic will go with Rob as their GM due to his inexperience of the actual GM title but the kid has a fully loaded resume coming from a successful background from the likes of the THUNDER and SPURS which is pretty hard for any team to ignore. The Question is…Is he worth the Risk?
•Hennigan graduated from Emerson College in 2004 with a degree in broadcast journalism. (He is 30 years old)
•The Worcester, Mass. native, was named a Division III All-American and an Academic All-American as a senior and was the Great Northeast Athletic Conference Player of the Year three consecutive seasons.
• He finished his career as the all-time scoring leader in Emerson history.
Rob and his wife, Marissa, reside in Oklahoma City.

Go for OKC guy...if it gives us any chance at landing Harden...then DO IT (Starsky and Hutch voice)
The hero Orlando deserves is out there somewhere, Dwight was not the one we needed. So we will hunt for him...

And while the Magic are taking their sweet time picking a new GM, Brian Shaw is going to get hired by someone else. The management of this franchise are incompetent.

Shaw could be the next Phil Jackson, or the next Randy Wittman. But look at Stan, as good as a coach is, if we dont have a good GM in place, the coach will not succeed.

If we miss out on Shaw, we still have Malone. If we miss out on both, then WTF.
