USA Basketball announced Wednesday that power forward Ryan Anderson has withdrawn from the American select team
O-Sen LINKWith Anderson a Free Agent, this is not a surprise. If he were to get injured he would have no financial stability.

Still disappointing though, that environment seems to have a positive effect on players.

For his progress sake, I think he really did need to be around those types of players. I'm actually disappointed in this decision. I understand he did this for financial reasons but I really wish he would consider learning from those guys.

what if you hear that he is working with Hakeem this summer on his post game? we dont know all the specifics. He can develop without risking injury.

Guys get injured all the time. If he's practicing, he's risking injury. I can't believe he wouldn't want to be playing among the best in the US. I think he just lacks the fire to be great. Which is sad because he has the talent.

I think people are so afraid of injuries that they stifle their progress. He could be injured working out with Hakeem (if he was working with him--yes, I know you were only reminding me that we don't know what he's doing this summer), what then? He could be injured from anything.
