Just heard on the Sports RX report w/ Shot Doctor in Orlando, that the magic will have an announcement by Friday on the GM. Sorry I don't have a link as I heard it on the radio but I can only hope he is right that we hear something by then. This has gone on WAY too long in my opinion. There were no names mentioned but he said that he talked with someone in the organization and they old him the announcement by end of day Friday.

Oh how things have gotten desperate...we are now using the Short Doctor as a source..LOL

well i don't know....shot isn't that bad....he was saying that Stan and Otis was going to be fired/let go way before it happened and before it was a forgone conclusion......iirc

Finalists to replace Smith could meet with the DeVos family as early as Tuesday. A hire could be made by the end of this workweek.

Magic CEO Alex Martins has said from the outset that franchise officials hope to make a hire at least seven to 10 days before the draft.

Orlando owns the 19th and 49th overall picks.

Not having a hire in place by June 21 would be dangerous — but not so much because of the draft.

That was opinion and not any insider info. Most everyone else was of the same opinion to be honest.

Maybe in passing, but not as someone anyone picked for a finalist. Bower being in that group makes me nervous. Oh well, nothing we can do but sit and wait...and wait...

Rob Hennigan enters his fourth year with the Oklahoma City Thunder and his second as the team’s Assistant General Manager/Player Personnel. Hennigan spent his first two seasons with the Thunder serving as the team’s Director of College/International Player Personnel.

In his current capacity, Hennigan’s responsibilities include overseeing the team’s professional, college, and international scouting departments, as well as assisting GM Sam Presti with all player personnel matters and day-to-day management of basketball operations.

Prior to joining the Thunder, Hennigan spent five seasons with the San Antonio Spurs and was named the Director of Basketball Operations in September of 2007. He joined the Spurs as an intern during the 2004–05 season and was later named the team’s Basketball Operations Assistant in the summer of 2005.

Hennigan graduated from Emerson College in 2004 with a degree in broadcast journalism. The Worcester, Mass. native, was named a Division III All-American and an Academic All-American as a senior and was the Great Northeast Athletic Conference Player of the Year three consecutive seasons. He finished his career as the all-time scoring leader in Emerson history.

Rob and his wife, Marissa, reside in Oklahoma City.

We have a chance to land the most sought after assistant gm in basketball, yet, conventional wisdom tells me that we go with bower. Martins has a chance to break the Orlando magic cycle of hiring retreads and friends of the family. Let's hope he proves me wrong.
