Stern takes a few shots at Jim Rome

Seems like the Lottery is a touchy subject with David. Although, I think we can agree Jim Rome is a piece of work.

I hate Stern as much as the next guy, but I don't really like Rome either.

Either way, its still pretty funny.

Listened to it and it was hilarious! I hate Jim Rome more than stern so to listen to him get wrecked on his own show was glorious.

Yeah it was funny. The interview got real awkward when Stern said Rome makes a living on taking cheap shots.

Stern is just totally unprofessional. I mean it wasn't exactly called for on Rome's end to ask if the league he oversees is rigged, but the wife-beating comment and insulting Rome's career is flat out rude. He can say he was joking all he wants, but that was a douchey move.

Rome explained that the wife beating question was not personal but a classic example of a loaded question...

Read the first paragraph. At first I was like wtf? But Rome is obviously a lot more educated in this than the rest of us.

Asking a guy if he has stopped beating his wife doesn't mean you think he beats his wife. It's just a question you can't answer and come out of it looking good.

If you say "yes" then that implies that you used to beat your wife but have now stopped.
If you say "no" then that implies that you still beat your wife.

I was skeptical about the meaning behind it and obviously didnt take it literally because I've never heard of Rome abusing his wife, so thanks for clearing that up. When is Rome ever gonna learn?

Lol it was great to hear them go back and forth but I hope that Rome did not seriously think that Stern would come out and say "as the commissioner of the NBA I confess that the NBA draft is rigged each year so I can pick the team I want to have the first pick."

I dislike them both but it was a pretty classic moment

For an interviewer thats the best result he could have gotten.
If it was another interview where Stern is talking about how much the league advanced and how good this season was there wouldnt be a topic about it here and Im sure less pepole would know about Jim rome.

David stern is just so immature and unproffesional, he could have just given his answer about how it doesn matter who gets the pick, some pepole would claim its rigged but he chose to take offense to the question and attack Jim rome which didnt only made him look childish, but also made it seem like there really is something to the claim.

i thought that was a great interview until Rome started losing his cool over Stern trying to wind him up. i've never listened to much of Jim Rome, so i didn't have a dog in that fight, but that interview is just testament to how childish Stern is. do you really want someone that petty and unprofessional running your league? if that's what he thinks is acceptable in broad daylight, what do you think he's capable of behind closed doors?

and i don't mean that in terms of rigging the lottery etc, i mean in terms of the way teams are officiated, and perhaps personal agendas he may foster towards players and coaches *cough* Dwight *cough* Stan *cough* Bobcats series *cough* Stern is a dick *cough*.

excuse me, i need to go take some Robitussin now.

I agree, that was extremely unprofessional and if a player did it, there is no doubt that he would fine them.

It was a stupid question to ask the commissioner of the league to begin with, but who cares who was right or wrong, both of these guys are clowns and are known to get under people's skin... I'm glad they insulted each other, and it was entertaining.

I find Jim Rome's talking style to be very dull. Plus, I can't stand his hate for soccer.
